Lisa's performance went on and Allison couldn't help but notice the eye contact she was making with Hades. Innocent but with hidden intent. How can she look at my husband like that?! She fumed within herself but then gasped in realization that she just referred to this Man as her husband for the very first time."Such a talented young lady."
"You know dear Lisa has been playing since she was a child."
"It's always a pleasure to have her around.
"You know she grew up together with Hades."
"Really?" How come I didn't know this?"
"You do now. Personally, I had really looked forward to the two together."
"It would have been a marvelous union."The whispers from the two women by her left, filtered into her ears.
Childhood sweethearts? Allison thought, sourly and as for those preferring Lisa with Hades, all they needed was a little more patience till the end of this contract and everything would go as smoothly as they had hoped. She thought, angry now as she got up from her seat, having no more guts to sit and listen to Lisa play and seduce her husband with her eyes right in front of her.Screw them all!
Hades took notice of her leaving and it brought a smile to his lips. She was jealous? Good! Because everything had been intentional. From the way he looked at Lisa, to the undivided attention he gave her performance. It was all to see if she would get upset or maintain her cool and he was glad, she lost it.
Allison walked along the corridor and stumbled on an in-house library. She got in and shut the door. She found a sofa and sat there, alone. This was much better than the dining hall. Not long, she heard the door creak open and she turned around in surprise.
"All alone honey?"
It was Hades.
"Why are you here? Are the events over yet?"
"No."
"Oh..."
Hades casually strolled in. "I see you're here for the same reason I am. Lisa is torturing the piano."
Allison couldn't help but laugh. "I think she's an excellent pianist."
"Yes she is but it's her audience she tortures."
"You're sounding so mean." She said as if she wasn't enjoying every bit of his resentment. "So many books...." She changed the topic, her eyes taking in the shelfs.
"I don't think they've been updated since the last time."
"How would you know?"
"I've read a great number of them to know."
"Oh really?"
He nodded.
"I didn't know you read."
"There was a lot I loved doing that I had to put a stop to."
"And why?"
"My father wouldn't accommodate anything that wasn't business related."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Don't be." Hades checked his watch. "The performance should be over by now. Mind heading back and joining the others?"
Allison nodded. "I'll be there in a few minutes." She said and Hades left before her.Maybe she had been overreacting. See? He didn't even like her performance? She thought, not able to help smiling like a dummy. However all her day dreaming had come to a brutal crashing end when she stepped into the main hall only to see, Hades and Freda dancing the ballroom dance together. Her heart caught up in her throat as she saw his hand placement, on her hips!
Calm down Allison, calm down.
Screw self control! She thought. Damn it! She whimpered defeatedly, suddenly realizing Freda was the curvy woman that she wasn't and she wouldn't stand a chance beside her any day. Was that the case? Did Hades prefer his women with curves? She thought, painfully. Afterall, a good number of men did and Hades was probably no different.
Lisa was also curvy and Venice was probably curvy too and I'm definitely the only slender woman in his dictionary. She fisted her hands, pained. This was all my mother's fault! Allison fumed. If I had taken over my grandmother or Vera, I'd have been curvy too! With a frustrated sigh, she left the building.
