Later the next day, Hades realized Lisa had been checked into that same hospital as she had an accident last night. When he got closer, he caught the perfume of the waitress that had served them that night and not to mention the tag on the clothes. Her grandfather was sitting beside her."I'm sorry Hades." She apologized, crying. "I was so foolish and blinded by my emotions. I'm sorry I ever tried to harm you or your child."
Hades looked away, obviously upset.
"Please son, you have to forgive her." Marcos pleaded on his granddaughter's behalf.
"What does she need?" Hades asked.
"A blood transfusion."
"I'm up for that." He said. "I'll help."
"Thank you so much." Marcos said.Hades sat for a few tests to see if both their bloods were compatible and after the transfusion, he could be seen taking Allison out of her ward, with their son in her arms whose name was now 'Edwin' after her father's, ofcourse. They were just about leaving when the doctor called them both to Lisa's ward, claiming to have some very important revelation. He held a paperwork in his hand and asked for all parties to be seated.
"Mr Lenshaw, Miss Valentino." He began. "Given the unlikely compatibility of both your blood and as strangers, I thought it best to carry out a test to confirm if there was something more. Pardon my lack of permission but..."
"Go on please," Hades cut in.
"As bizarre as it may sound, it would seem that the both of you are actually blood-related."
"What?" Lisa gasped, looking distraughtly from her grandfather to Hades. "That's not possible Doctor, we're not related in any way."
"Thank you very much doc, I really appreciate." Hades said.
"It's my pleasure."
"You may leave now."
With a curtesy, the Doctor was gone. The tension in the room was only more heated now.
"You heard the doctor, would you like to spit something out, Marcos?" Hades asked, his face hard.
"Yes grandpa, what's going on?"
"Don't ask me! Ask that Father of yours! It's possible he had an affair with not just my daughter but some other woman."
"But that doesn't make any sense! Hades is a Lenshaw. His origins are well known." Lisa said, facing Hades. "Isn't it?"
"No." Hades said. "I'm not actually Henry's son."
"What?"
"I was fostered."
"Oh my goodness!" Lisa gasped.
"Yes Lisa."
"Oh no! No! No! This can't be possible! There's no way in hell that you're my brother! Grandpa say something!"
"It would seem so. If your both your DNA match. That would be the only explanation."
Lisa was shattered. What was going on? The same Man she had been dying over for years had turned out to be her own brother!
"You wouldn't happen to know any woman who goes by the name, Maria, do you?" Hades asked.
"Maria? I recall the name, she used to work for my son-in-law, Lisa's father."
"She's my mother."
"What the hell?" Lisa gasped.
"How would you know that?"
"I've been running some findings for awhile now. The woman who dropped me off at the orphanage was named Maria and I believe she had to because my Father must have threatened her to."
"Or my mother..." Lisa chipped in. "I once heard her over an old recording. She was saying something about no one ever getting to know that my father had a male heir somewhere. That it'd shatter her marriage. I was only fifteen then. I don't even think my dad got to know Maria was pregnant for him. My mother must have someone manipulated things to her favour. I'm so sorry, Hades."
"Is she still alive?"
"We wouldn't know."
"Do you think we should search for her?" Allison finally spoke.
"Definitely, we have to. I have to confirm if my mother is actually alive somewhere or not. She deserves to know that her son is alive and well."
"What do we do?"
"Public announcements?" Hades suggested.
"You want us to take this to the media. The whole world will know you are not actually a Lenshaw."
"I don't care, love. I just need to find her, that's all."
"And we will..." she held his hand, comfortingly.
Hades smiled at her. "Yes...we will."The black Mercedes stopped in front of a wooden cabin by the lake. The search for Maria Davila had taken six months but what child would give up on their mother?
Her search took over six months with it starting to seem like she had disappeared from the face of the earth but there were traces that proved that she was not yet dead.
After months of searching, researching and not giving up, Maria was finally located at a simple town down in North Carolina. She had moved there twenty years ago after her husband had died in a car accident.
Information had it that she lived alone in a wooden cabin by the lake. She mostly sold knits and dresses at the market not far off. Maria, a simple woman in her late sixties was busy that evening as usual.
She was surrounded by three of her pet cats as she sat on a rocky chair in the living room busy knitting a sweater listening to a weather forecaster on the TV. She had no special expectations that evening until she heard an unexpected knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Maria asked as she propped her head out the door.
Allison came face to face with a slender woman who had unusual eyes placed behind well framed wire-rimmed glasses. Those golden-brown eyes were Hades. She was definitely his mother!
"Mrs Davila?"
"Yes and who are you?"
"Allison Lenshaw, if you don't mind there's someone who would like to see you."
"I'm not expecting anyone today." Maria frowned at the disturbance. "And most certainly don't want to see anyone."
"Trust me ma'am you would want to see this person." Allison smiled, turning around. "Hades?"A tall gentleman with rolled up white sleeves and a pair of black pants holding unto a baby emerged from the side of the house. When He came face to face with his mother, Hades was....overwhelmed. Her eyes...His.
"Who are....you?" Maria squinted, no doubt she was also taken aback by his eyes.
"I'm your son, mother." Hades said, handing over Edwin to Allison.
"No no no." She shook her head, disbelievingly. "I have no child." Tears welled up in her eyes. "I don't have a son."
"You do Maria," Hades held onto her arms. "And I'm that son."
"But...but how? I gave you to the orphanage. You should be fostered. How are you here?" Maria asked, tears flowing down her eyes.
"It doesn't matter, I know all that happened. I'm only sorry I didn't find you sooner." Hades said, engulfing the woman before him in a hug.
Maria wept in her son's arms. "My boy!" She cried, patting his back. "You were so little the last time I held you and now...I can't believe you're even taller than your mother now." She smiled, through tears."Your wife?" Maria glanced at Allison, surprised.
"Yes mother, my wife and son."
"Oh my...." Maria gasped. "This is beautiful." She stretched out her hands to Edwin and carried him. "He's an adorable lad." She smiled at Allison.
"Thank you ma'am."
"Please, I would like you to call me, mother." Maria said to Allison.
"Oh..." she was taken aback. "Ofcourse mom." She smiled back.
"Do come in...." Maria said to the two as she led them inside.Allison watched the two, heart swelled with emotion. The perfect reunion. If only her mother was like Maria. She was glad Hades had found his family. She might have been able to give him her love up to an extent but nothing beats one's family and she was glad, he had found his. With a mother in his life now, he was definitely bound for change.
