Chapter 7

She took a bite of the mango Lucius had given her. She just completed her nature magic practice. She had become quite adept at it. Lucius had also assisted her with her archery training to help her enhanced her skills.

He also taught her and trained her in combat skills. He was exceptionally skilled. He's like a seasoned warrior. They were currently resting by the river. The only sound she could hear was the gentle flow of water from the stream.

When she finished the mango, she turned her attention to the grass and played with it using her fingers. She could feel Lucius's gaze on her. Why is he looking at her again? May dumi ba siya?

She cleared her throat and spoke. "I won't be here for training tomorrow. I'll be going with Vesto."

She bit her lip after speaking. What had gotten into her to say that?

"Vesto." He said in a serious tone when he mentioned Vesto's name. "Do you like him?"

Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open at what Lucius had said.

"W-what?! No! Vesto is like a brother to me." Mabilis na saad niya.

Siya? Gusto niya si Vesto?! She can't even see herself liking him. Hindi nga pumasok sa isip niya iyon. Saan ba nakuha ni Lucius ang ideya na gusto niya si Vesto?

Lucius had been staring at her for a long time. She avoided his gaze and focused her attention straight ahead.

"Good." Narinig niya na sabi nito. Tumukhim naman ito at nagsalita ulit. "So, where are you going with him?"

She smiled excitedly and turned back to Lucius.

"We're going to Delior!" She said excitedly.

For a moment, he was taken aback by her words. Lucius must have been wondering what was so exciting about going to Delior.

"It will be my first time going in the field." Patuloy niya.

There's nothing particularly impressive about going to Delior; it's a danger zone with vampire sightings and people going missing. Though she was thrilled and excited, she also felt scared when her Amang summoned her to the meeting room and told her the news. She would be helping Vesto with the investigation of the situation in Delior.

"Delior is a dangerous town. There are vampires activities in the area." He said in his deep voice. "You're going there with Vesto alone?" He asked her.

"Yeah. Vesto is one of our skilled fighter. We'll be alright." She said. "And besides I improved a lot."

"You did." Ngumiti naman siya sa sinabi nito. "So, see you in a few days?"

Nakangiting tumango naman siya. Walang umimik na ulit sa kanila. She felt the wind blowing, causing her long hair to dance with the breeze. From a distance, she could hear the birds chirping.

Her breathing and heartbeat nearly stopped as she felt Lucius's presence so close to her. Why is he so near? She could hardly breathe. He took a strand of her hair that had fallen over her face and slowly and gently tucked it behind her pointed ears.

She slowly turned to him, and their eyes locked. His gray eyes always fascinated her, leaving her unable to discern his thoughts. She swallowed slowly when she noticed how close their faces were.

"How could someone be this irresistible?" He muttered almost whispering.

She tried to read him through his eyes. She wants to know what he is thinking but he cannot grasp about it.

"Elara." He called her name not breaking their eye contact. "You just don't know what you're doing to me." His said in a hoarsely voice.

"W-what are you talking about, Lucius." She asked him confused.
