Mahinang tumawa siya ng makita ang magkasalubong nitong kilay.
"Pagod lang ako." Sabi niya at nilaro ang damo.
"I don't want you sad because of that stupid vampire, Elara." Nahimigan niya ang seryoso nitong boses.
"I'm not sad because of him." Pagkakaila niya.
Hindi naman binili ni Liwayway ang kanyang sinabi at sumimangot lang ito sa kanya.
"Elara." Lumingon siya ng may pamilyar na boses ang tumawag sa kanya.
"Vesto." Nakangiting bati niya sa lalake. "How are you? I haven't seen you for ages." She said jokingly.
Napapailing naman ito habang mahinang tumawa.
"Yeah, I just came back from a mission." Umupo ito sa kanyang tabi. "I'm glad you're back."
Marahang tumango siya. "Me too. I'm glad I'm back in Elderglen." Mahinang sagot niya.
"I'm so worried when I heard what happened. We went there but you're no longer there." He said seriously. "And it's worst than Ravenscroft get a hold of you."
Matagal bago siya nagsalita. "Ang importante nakabalik na ako." Iyon na lamang ang sinabi niya.
"Did he hurt you, Elara?" Natigilan siya at ilang sandali ay umiling. M
When she came back, halos aligaga ang lahat. Even the Council asked for her and held a meeting wherein almost all the leaders of kingdom are present where they questioned her thoroughly to see if she had any information about Lucius.
"H-he took care of me." Mahinang sabi niya.
Hindi sumagot si Vesto at pinakiramdaman niya ito. Matalino si Vesto kaya alam niyang may ideya na ito kung anong nangyayari sa kanya.
"They will brand you as a traitor, Elara." He said almost warning her. "You know you can tell me everything."
Nilingon niya ito at matagal na tiningnan sa mata.
"I choose my kingdom. I choose my people. I am not a traitor but a protector of my realm." Seryoso at mariing sabi niya habang hindi hinihiwalay ang tingin dito.
"Choose?" Seryoso pa rin ang mukha nito. "So, you had second thoughts?"
Nagsalubong naman ang kilay niya sa klase ng tanong nito.
"Do you like him, Elara?" Natigilan siya sa tanong nito. Ilang sandali lamang ay napailing ito. "I knew something was wrong when he appeared in refugee camp."
"It's not my intention to get close to him. I didn't know he was a vampire nor a Ravenscroft." Binaling niya ang tingin sa harapan.
"Hey! It's not Elara's fault!" Galit na sabi ni Liwayway.
