Hoseok examines Yunhee who is still unconscious and like the first time she was brought to the clinic, he can't find the cause of her illness. It's like something is draining her life force. Hoseok has never come across an illness like this. And he doesn't know how to help Yunhee.
Yunhee's father is practically cursing the beta doctor which the latter ignores and continues his job. Kihyun is worried too, but it is not because he cares for Yunhee's health. He is worried about their wedding. It could be postponed or canceled, which he doesn't want to happen. He needs the support of Yunhee's clan to be the next head alpha. He knows his father trusts Yunhee's father, after all they are also good friends. There's a greater chance that his father would listen to Yunhee's dad and finally choose him as his heir. His position isn't secured yet. He needs his father to formally announce to the pack that he will be the next head alpha.
"What kind of doctor are you? You can't even tell us what's wrong with our daughter." Yunhee's mother spat. "If you can't heal my daughter just resign! This clinic needs a competent doctor and you're far from it." She turned to her husband. "Make sure this useless doctor is replaced as soon as possible! Let's bring Yunhee home."
"Don't worry, mother-in-law. I'll talk to my father about replacing him as the head doctor of the pack clinic." Kihyun consoled her as he scooped Yunhee from the bed and carried her out of the clinic.
Hoseok felt very small at the way Yunhee's parents and Kihyun talked to him, filled with disgust and mistrust. He wipes his tear-filled eyes. His insecurities start to resurface and shatter his resolve. He begins to doubt himself. Is he really a useless doctor? Should he just give up and leave the clinic, change his profession? It was his dream to be a doctor ever since he witnessed his father die of bleeding because the then pack doctor prioritized treating the more well-off patients he had. He and his mother begged Doctor Kang to treat his father. His father's injuries were more fatal than that of the other patients but the doctor turned blind eye and deaf to their plea. He deemed it unjust that Doctor Kang was rewarded and was assigned to the affluent families of the pack including the head alpha's family despite him favoring wealthier patients.

From then on, he promised himself that he'll become a doctor and will treat his patients fairly regardless of wealth and status in the pack. He studied hard, heck he even swore celibacy and remained mateless so he can focus on his profession but he feels frustrated right now. Why can't he find the cause of Yunhee's failing health. He has been reading several medical books after Yunhee was first brought to the clinic but it was all in vain. The books offered no solution to Yunhee's mysterious illness.
His inner monologue is cut off by gentle knocks on the door. He sluggishly gets up and walks to the door unlocking it. In front of him is Wooshik who has a worried look on his usually bright face. He lets the newcomer inside the clinic.
Wooshik sits on an empty chair while his eyes follow the doctor who quietly goes to the clinic's pantry and prepares two cups of tea. Hoseok hands Wooshik the other cup which he accepts after thanking him. Hoseok sits beside Wooshik.
