Hira sneaks out of the main pack house. She is heading to the furthest part of the woods where an old cabin is. She looks back a few times, making sure none is following her.

She knocks on the creaky wooden door. A woman around her age opens the door and lets her in. Hira sits comfortably on the floral couch in the medium-sized living room. She darts her gaze around the cabin. It's almost the same as when she gave it to Miyeon. Miyeon, the woman who is also her good friend, is a witch. Her family comes from a powerful clan of witches and warlocks. They used to live in a pack not far from Obsidian. The pack didn't know that they were a family of witches. They thought that Miyeon's family were herbalists since they used to sell medicinal plants.

The tragedy happened when her older brother fell in love with the omega daughter of the head alpha. The daughter of the head alpha was very pretty and kind. A lot of unmated alphas and betas in their pack were besotted with her.

Miyeon's brother mistook the omega's kindness towards him as affection. He was devastated when he learned that the omega was set to marry the son of the head alpha of the neighboring pack. Miyeon's brother begged the head alpha's daughter to choose him and to elope with him, but she refused and revealed to him that she was in love with the alpha she was betrothed with.

Desperate and in love, Miyeon's brother used a compelling spell on the omega. Witches and warlocks can only use a compelling spell once in their entire lives. Miyeon's brother thought that if he slept with the head alpha's daughter, she would agree to elope with him. So Miyeon's brother took the omega's virginity while she was under the spell. The following morning when the spell wore off, the omega cried in despair and anguish. Miyeon's brother told her that he would take responsibility and marry her but the omega refused and ran away from his cabin.

The head alpha's daughter, feeling dirty and disgusted with herself decided to end her life but not before writing a farewell letter to her parents and lover narrating how Miyeon's brother put her under a spell and forced himself on her. She jumped off the cliff to her death. The head alpha unleashed his rage on Miyeon's family. The fifteen year old Miyeon was spared because she was up in the mountains gathering herbs for her potion. His father, mother and brother were tied to a post and burned to death in front of the main pack house while the whole pack was watching. Miyeon silently wept while hiding behind a tree, witnessing their death. She swore to exact revenge on the pack.

Three days after her family's demise, Miyeon sneaked inside the head alpha's office. She used the compelling spell on him and ordered the head alpha to wage war against the pack of his late daughter's alpha lover. The head alpha under Miyeon's spell readied his warriors to attack the neighboring pack. Miyeon was very pleased. Finally, she will avenge her family. But the impending war was foiled with the arrival of Luna to their pack. Luna broke the compelling spell making the head alpha halt the attack against the other pack.

Miyeon was enraged but she knew she couldn't defeat or hurt Luna. She is too powerful for her, so she aimed at her weakness, her lover who was laid asleep in a cave. Miyeon, upon first glance, was captivated by the beauty of Luna's lover. She wanted the lover all to herself. She visited his dream and confessed her love to him but she was outright rejected. Miyeon was heartbroken. With her power, she took his essence and sealed it in a vial so Luna won't be able to reach him.

Miyeon didn't go back to her old pack, instead she traveled to look for another pack where she could settle and start anew. She had roamed around for three years until she met a weeping Hira. The omega narrated to the witch how the alpha that she loved is her sister's fated mate. Miyeon listened and comforted Hira, forging a friendship between them. Finding out that Miyeon is an orphan and has no place to stay, Hira offered her the old cabin in the woods owned by her late grandparents. Miyeon was grateful to Hira and promised to repay her someday. She also confessed to Hira that she's a witch.
