Chapter 13: It's a date

It's been a week since you kissed Sebastian. You've seen him around town a couple of times since then. You both turn red in the face when you see each other. It's Friday night at the Saloon. You're sitting at the bar, talking to Emily. You keep glancing over to watch Sebby and Sam play pool. You lock eyes on Sebastian at one point. You both can't help but smile at each other.

"Earth to emo boy! What are so smiley about?" Sam asked him, waving his hand in front of Sebastian's face.

"Nothing dude." He smirks at you and goes back to pool. 

Emily has been watching the two of you all night. She gives a small smile before talking to you. But you don't hear her at first. You're lost in thought. You happen to side eye Shane. He's sitting in his usual spot. He quit talking to you all together. You feel a ping of sadness. You have no idea what you did to make him do that. Or if it's even you that is the problem.

"Hellloooo Y/N? Did you hear anything I said?" Emily frowns. You turn your attention back to her.

"Oh, sorry Ems. I got lost in my own head for a moment."

"More like all night. I see you looking at Sebastian. Did something happen between you two that you guys keep giving looking at each other like two forbidden lovers?"

You laugh. "I wouldn't say it's forbidden. It's not like we're seeing other people." You lower your eyes to look at your drink. You sounded more sad then you meant to.

"I thought you and Shane were becoming a thing?"

"I did too Ems. We haven't spoken in probably a month. It's not from the lack of trying on my part. Maybe he just didn't want a serious relationship with me." You say shrugging your shoulders. "I dunno. I'm not worried about it right now. Enough about that though. Back to Sebastian. I've been hanging out with him a bunch. And the other day, he kissed me when he took me home."

"OMG Y/N." She practically shouted. Gus and Pam gave her a look. She looked back at them a bit embarrassed. 

"Sorry!" She said to them, and turns back to you. "I can't believe you didn't tell me sooner!"

"I know. I've been busy trying to finish up my fall harvest and get ready for winter. Sorry, but I'm super excited to see where this is going with him!" You take a drink and then hear someone clear their throat behind you. You turn around.

"Hi Sebastian!"

"Hi Y/N." He smiles. "So, uh. I don't have any work this weekend to do. I was wondering if you want to come over to my house and hangout?" He asks a bit quiet. 

"I would love to!" You beam at him. "How about I just come over tomorrow?"

"Sounds good. Just text me when you're on your way over." He gives you a shy smile. "See ya then."

"Bye Sebastian." You give him a little smile. You watch him leave with Sam and Abby. When you turn back to talk to Emily, you notice Shane looking at you. His expression doesn't show anything, but you can tall by the look in his eye that he's hurt or sad. Maybe a but of both, you can't quite tell. The man knows how to hide how he feels all too way. He looks away from you quickly, and goes back to staring at his beer. You feel a tug in your chest. You still have feelings for Shane but if he doesn't want you, then he doesn't want you. It would have been nice if he would've told you that he didn't want to be serious. 

You feel a bit used actually. The last time you had been with him, was when you slept together. Is that all he wanted? Did he just want to have sex with you and that was it? You shake your head. There was guys at there for sure who do that but you didn't think Shane was one of them. Maybe he has something going on he can't express. That sounds like the Shane you know. But you can't force him to talk to you about it. You just wish he would at least text you sometime. You decide that tomorrow you'll make his favorite pizza and drop it off at his house. Just so he knows that you still care. You don't want to give up on him. You know how it feels to go through depression alone. It hurts. It can eat you alive. If you can't have Shane as a girlfriend, you want him as a friend still at least.
