The team were on a plane to New York for a case. There were several people found murdered and they think it's a serial killer. Kalmin was sleeping on the plane as he barely got any sleep the night before. Emily was next to him and glancing over at him every so often. He had been through a lot since his first day, yet he still comes back to work with a smile on his face. "What are you thinking about?" David asked Emily looked up to see David sitting across from her. He gave her an encouraging smile as he waited for a response. She looked back over at Kalmin with a frown. "He's been through so much and I feel bad for him." Emily tells him "Kalmin is a good man, everything that happened to him, will only make him stronger and more empathetic to the people around him." David tells her "I know, but he didn't deserve everything that has happened to him." Emily replied "What do you think he should do?" David asked "I think he should quit to save himself from more harm." Emily tells him David's eyes widened, "Are you serious?" "Yes! Kalmin doesn't deserve anything that comes his way and it's the only way to protect him." Emily explains "That's up to him, Emily." David replied "I know."

They arrived at the station and Kalmin walked in half asleep. Emily giggled at the tired face of his as she led him inside the station. Kalmin wiped his eyes as he woke himself up. "I'm up!" Kalmin told her Emily nodded and let him go as the sheriff walked over with a detective. Sheriff shook everyone's hands along with the detective. However, when the detective got to Kalmin, she giggled obnoxiously and sent him flirty expressions. "My name is Amanda! What's yours?" Amanda asked "Kalmin." "That is so hot!" Amanda gushed "Amanda!" Sheriff scolded "go check to make sure their area is set up!" "Yes sir!" Amanda replied Amanda made a 'call me' gesture making Kalmin frown, confused. Sheriff looked over at Kalmin with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about her. She is very expressive." Sheriff apologized "It's okay." Kalmin replied Amanda came back and smiled at Kalmin. He gave a kind smile back to be nice. She smiled at that before looking over at her boss. "Their room is ready, sir." Amanda tells him "Alright, follow me." Sheriff tells them Kalmin began to follow behind Aaron with Emily by his side. Emily linked her arm with his like they did at the funeral as they walked. Kalmin smiled down at her which she reciprocated. Amanda rolled her eyes and pushed Emily out of the way to wrap her arm with his. Kalmin stopped walking and snatched his arm from hers as he looked over at Emily. "You okay?" Kalmin asked "Yeah, I'm fine. It's okay." Emily assured him Kalmin looked at Amanda, "You need to know your place and never push her away again!" Kalmin held a hand out to Emily, which she took immediately, and led her away from Amanda. Amanda huffed as she followed close behind, sulking. Kalmin linked their arms again as they walked into the room they will be working together in. He released Emily's arm before whispering to her. "I'll be back." Kalmin whispered Emily nodded as Kalmin walked over to the sheriff. He began whispering to him about everything Amanda had done and he glanced over at his detective. The sheriff smiled at Kalmin with a thankful look. "Thank you for informing me! I'll be sure to handle it when I get the chance." Sheriff whispered Kalmin nodded before he walked back over to Emily, linking their arms together. She held onto him tightly as they listened to the directions. "Lee, Morgan, and Reid will head to the crime scene, JJ and Prentiss will talk to the families, and Rossi and I will be here to do a geographic profile." Aaron commanded Everyone nodded as Kalmin released Emily's arm, before placing a hand on her back as he left with the boys. Emily smiled at the gesture as she walked out of the station with JJ. They got to the car when they heard a voice from behind them. "Wait!" They turned around to see Amanda running over to them. JJ opened the passenger door to get in and turned to look at her. "I was wondering if I could tag along. I want to help!" Amanda tells them Emily and JJ looked at each other as they had a silent conversation with each other. JJ shrugged her shoulders as Emily internally sighed. "Come on!" JJ tells her Amanda smiled and hopped into the backseat as Emily got in the driver's seat. She began driving and it was pretty silent the whole time, until Amanda started a conversation. "So, is Kalmin dating anyone?" Amanda asked "We are about to go meet with some families who have lost their children, siblings, etcetera and you want to know if Kalmin is dating anyone?" JJ asked, incredulously "Yes?" Amanda replied in more of a question "Kalmin is not dating anyone but you'd be the last choice." Emily tells her "What makes you say that?" Amanda asked "Kalmin wants to know about the person before he starts anything with them. So, all the flirting you have done, has caused you to fall down the line." Emily explained "When did you learn that?" JJ asked "At the funeral." Emily answered "Did his mom tell you?" JJ asked "No, Kalmin did." Emily replied "Is that why you guys were so close to each other at the funeral?" JJ asked "We weren't that close, but yes." Emily replied "Is there something going on between you and Kalmin?" Amanda asked "No! We're just friends!" Emily tells her "It doesn't seem like it to me." Amanda tells her Emily frowned confused as she watched the road. What did she mean by that? Did everyone think that as well?
