17. Realizations - Part -II

It had been some time and Dhawal was pacing inside Suhani's room. He had told her about having second thoughts about the wedding. She had insisted that they could make it work and if he cancelled the wedding now, her reputation would be shattered. But he was adamant to reason with her and trying to make her understand that both their lives would be ruined when-

"Kaha chupa ke rakha hai meri behen ko?? Sidhe sidhe bata de nahi to jo main karunga na, uske baad tu batane layak nahi rahega!"

It was Chiku. And he appeared to be arguing with someone. Dhawal opened the door to look out.

"Arey tujhe kitni baat bolun ke maine kuch nahi kara hai. Mujhe nahi pata Natasha kaha hai! Dikha di na tune bhi apni aukaat. Apni hone wali biwi ke bhai ke saath aise behave karte hai?" he taunted Chiku back.

Dhawal reached them in few long strides and pulled Chiku back from the collar, making him let go of Amrish.

"Oye...apni awaaz aur haath kaabu me rakh! Mere bhai se aise baat ki na-" he started to say but Chiku interrupted him.

"Tere bhai se aise baat kar raha hu to bura lag raha hai na. Aur meri behen ke saath jo tum logo ne kiya hai uska kya?? Tujhe shaanti se shaadi karni hai to usko kidnap karwa diya hai?? Zara si bhi insaniyat hai ke nahi tum logo me?? Usspe kya beet rahi hai soch bhi nahi sakte tum log!"

Dhawal let go of his collar in surprise. "Kya? Natasha kaha hai?!"

"Bohot der se gayab hai wo kisi ne nahi dekha hai usse! Sab tum logo ki wajah se hua hai. Mujhe to ye darr hai ke kahi wo kuch ulta seedha kar na bethe! Agar aisa kuch hua na to dekh lena Dhawal tujhe aur tere iss bhai ka main zinda nahi chodunga!!" Chiku yelled.

Dhawal felt like the earth had stopped spinning. The thought that Natasha would try to do something that drastic was scaring him to no end. He wouldn't be able to survive if something like that happened....and that too because of him. Forgetting everything, he ran upstairs to her room. He knew the floor, room number, everything because he had been contemplating going to meet her before today's rituals had even started. He had wanted to clear his heart and head.

He pushed open the door but the room was empty. "Natasha??!!" He ran back out to the corridor. Chiku had come up behind him.

"Main yaha sab dekh chuka hu. Kahi nahi hai wo"

Dhawal's heart sank. No. He would find her. He had last seen her in the downstairs hall with Kattu and that Rohan.

"Saare rooms check karte hai. Tu yaha dekh main upar ke floors mein dekhta hu" he said to Chiku and ran upstairs. One by one he knocked on the doors and tried to check inside. Many people yelled at him but he didn't care. She wasn't anywhere. He went to the next floor.

Just as he was crossing a room, he heard glass breaking from inside. He stopped and tried to peep in through the window and saw a guy trying to get on top of a girl. He averted his eyes, thinking that he was intruding onto a private moment. But something made him look back. That girl looked like she was trying to push him off as if he was trying to force himself on her. He couldn't tell for sure....if he barged in and it was not what it was looking to be then it would be an awkward situation...but in the next second, everything was crystal clear.

As if in slow motion, Dhawal's eyes saw the guy lean up on his elbow, revealing the face of the girl beneath him and he was thunderstruck.

It was Natasha.

His heart almost stopped at the sight before him, his brain unable to process what he was seeing with his eyes. He felt numb. No, this could not be true. She couldn't be....right there in bed...with another man...doing...What was she doing? Had he really sent her to this extreme that she would..? He blinked, as if the image would change or disappear. But it didn't. He could see that man grip her chin in his hand and firmly turn her head towards him, leaning down towards her mouth...he shut his eyes, his vision was getting hazy due to the moisture building up in his eyes. He didn't think he would be able to survive seeing her with another man.
