6 years later
"WHATEVER HAPPENS, I'M sorry for making you do this."
"I love you. Remember that, okay?"
"I love you."
Number Five opened his eyes to the sound of his alarm clock blaring right next to his ear at four-thirty in the morning. When he realized he was awake, he let out a deep sigh. He thought that after all these years, he would no longer hear that voice ever again. Until now.
The second he closed his eyes again, he felt tears stinging as they slipped out of the corners of his eyes. He didn't even have the slightest clue as to who it was that was telling him such, considering her face was always blurred out. Though he was aware that whatever happened in that dream made his chest feel heavy. If he was even certain to call it so.
Five hears the same voice and see the same figure every time he went to sleep. It used to consist of only bits and pieces, in which he didn't mind at first. But now that it seemed to linger even when he was just resting his eyes, it's impossible to remain to claim it as a dream. Not when it ached his heart every time he was with her.
They're definitely memories, Five thought, I just don't remember having them.
Yet, somehow, even though it's been six years, he found himself clinging onto these memories the most.
Though it wasn't an excuse to take a leave from work. Especially when he was tasked to keep undercover while he was out the field. With that, the boy eventually turned off his alarm and got out of bed.
His boss wasn't as enthused as he was about his assignment, but he let him get on with it regardless. Which Five much obliged to, because as much as they potentially have conspiring motives, the conception that led them to a big movement had left the boy intrigued and in a quandary.
Ever since the old man reset the whole timeline, not once did Number Five feel fulfilled with how everything was back to normal -- whatever that meant. Frankly, Five found this type of "normal" anticlimactic. Unlike his family who seemed to have settled down in the vast of six years.
Luther became an "exotic dancer." He wouldn't admit to it, but everyone was aware that he was a stripper at a bar full of ladies who were in their forties every Sunday. His stripper name being the same alias he had growing up as a member of the Umbrella Academy, Spaceboy.
Diego and Lila got married and now has three kids. Along with Lila's side of the family -- who were apparently alive in this timeline -- she naturally became a stay-at-home mom who's currently managing her eldest daughter, Grace's sixth birthday party. Whereas Diego was working as a courier, though his team supervisor couldn't say he was great with it.
Allison continued to to become an actor. Though it couldn't be helped that she was often assigned to roles pertaining to laundry detergent commercials. After Ray walked out on her and Claire without a word, Klaus lived in their basement.
Everything after living in sobriety for three years had him live in full fear of death and even life itself. When he used to be capable of wearing nothing but a sarong outside, now he can't leave without surgical gloves and face masks covering parts of his body his every day clothes cannot hide away from germs.
Lastly, Viktor decided to go for long distance and moved to Nova Scotia, Canada, and own a bar. A few years in, and he was already the least admirable bachelor around. The regulars and employees of his bar laughed at him for it.
As far as Five could tell, that was what's been going on with his family. No more, no less. He forced that down to his gut and believed he had forgotten no one for so long. But whenever she came back in his dreams, his great wall of suppressed emotions immediately came crumbling down. The constant need to find her never slipped his mind on a daily basis. But he never got to it.
