(CW: Death, Smut, Angst)
~Michael~
The drive back home from the hospital was as silent as could be. Noah kept his eyes on the road, leaning his head on his hand against the window ceil. "Are you okay?.." I mumbled. That was a stupid question to ask.
He nodded, flicking the turn signal on as he turned into the driveway of the palace. "It's okay if you're upset, you know." I rested my hands in my lap while he parked the car in the garage.
He didn't answer me, just stepped out of the car and walked to the elevator, I quickly followed him. "Hey- look at me." I grabbed his hand, forcing him to stay still. I placed my hand on the side of his face, he looked down at me as I kissed him. "I only ever wanna help you."
"I'm alright." He traced a hand down my cheek, I leaned into his palm. "Don't waste time worrying about me, okay?" He pulled away from me and stepped out of the elevator as it reached our floor, leaving me behind him as I struggled to catch up.
"Will you at least take the day off?" I followed him to our bedroom, it was like three in the morning by now and I felt like passing out, I knew he did too.
"I can sleep for a few hours but I have meetings tomorrow— today, I guess." He ran a hand through his hair sat down on the bed, not giving a shit about changing out of his uncomfortable clothes. I sighed.
"At least change." I stood in front of the bed, stepping between his legs and starting to unbutton his shirt. I barely got half the buttons done before he placed his hands on my waist and rested his forehead on my stomach, pulling me as close to him as possible.
I put my hands in his hair, kissing the top of his head. "I love you, you know that?" I cupped his face, forcing his head up to look at me. His shirt was half off his shoulders.
"I love you." He held my hand, kissing my palm and taking a deep breath, closing his eyes. He almost fell asleep right there.
"Come on.. Let's get you some sleep." I continued to take his shirt off, throwing it in the laundry. I sat down on the bed and began untying my shoes as he laid down, closing his eyes instantly. I crawled next to him, lying down as he wrapped his arm over me and pulled me closer to him. He held me tightly, like I was going to disappear at any moment. I hugged him back and started to gently purr.
Waking up a few hours later, at maybe 5 am, Noah had unwrapped me from his arms and tried his best to quietly get out of bed. "No.. Come back.." I whimpered, tiredly reaching my hand out to him as I could barely see through my half closed eyes. He leaned down and kissed me on the head. I held onto the back of his neck with my hand and pulled him in for an actual kiss. "Please stay." I let out a whine I hoped he couldn't say no to, wrapping my tail around his hips for extra pleading.
"Nobody's even up yet.. Just sleep for a few more hours." I sat up.
He gently pulled me from him and kissed my hand. "I love you." He said before walking away. I rubbed my eyes and laid back down, staring at the ceiling as I yawned. I doubted I'd be able to fall back asleep, as much as I wanted too, Willow would be up in like twenty minutes.
As if on cue I started to hear crying over the baby monitor. I groaned and sat up, tiredly getting out of bed as I went to Willow's room before she woke up the whole house.
Lia went home as soon as possible last night, but Noah had to stay until for tons of paperwork and talks about what to do with the uh- bodies. It was uncomfortable.
"Hey, sunflower.." I smiled down at Willow in her crib. She continued to bawl and reach her arms out at me. "You excited for your birthday in a few days?" I picked her up and held her against my chest. She placed her hands on my face and grinned with a pure expression of joy over nothing really. My baby is almost a year old, I'm gonna have a mental breakdown on her birthday.
