"This is stupid." A huff escaped my chest as I stood in the middle of Posi's living room. I crossed my arms against my chest, wearing black pyjama pants and a plain white T-shirt.

"Is someone mad they can't sleep with their mate tonight?" Posi teased, zipping around the room as I watched her set up a nest on the floor for me to sleep in.

For more decades than I can count, it's been wedding tradition for alphas and omegas to spend the night before apart. Not a single spec of the other's scent. Different rooms or even different houses, different clothes, everything.

I don't particularly believe in tradition, but everyone else agreed it would be fun. And ultimately, Noah and I are push-overs.

"Yes, someone is mad." I shifted my eyes away, watching Lily sip down a cup of coffee from a white porcelain mug in the kitchen.
"I don't see the point. I'm gonna see him tomorrow anyway." I grumbled, lowering my gaze to the ground.

The kids were both upstairs in their rooms, soundly asleep with the baby monitors with both Noah (Who was sleeping in Elias's apartment) and I incase they woke up. Leo's been sleeping through the night fine though lately.

"It's tradition— and there's something to be said for tradition." Posi shrugged as she finished setting up the nest and smiled, presenting it to me.

"Thank you anyway." I crooked my head to the side, crawling into it and sitting on my knees.
"Your nests are so comfortable." I stretched down into the nest, my tail swooshing up as I laid down and curled up.

"Really?" A soft smile invaded her face.

"Mhm." I nodded, watching the shadow hitting the wall of her tail wagging. Her face lit up.
She ran off to Lily, jumping up and down with excitement at my compliment.

My eyes darted to the clock as it ticked and hit 10pm. I huffed, nuzzling my face into the nest that smelt strongly of Posi. It washed a calm feeling over my chest as I closed my eyes, the lights flicking off as Posi and Lily walked to their room and shut the door.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, I pulled it out, resting it on the floor as I read the message from Noah.

Darling
Love you baby, goodnight ❤️

Me
Love you too❤️ sleeping alone is boring

Darling
Well it's the last time you'll be free of me so enjoy it

I smiled, hearting the message before turning my phone off.
I curled up and wrapped my tail around myself, resting my head on the pile of pillows and blankets surrounding me.

"So.. Not a good sleep?" Elias grinned as he watched me chug down the cup of coffee he handed me.

Considering I spent most of the night staring at Elias's ceiling, no, it was not a good sleep.
"Traditions are dumb." I grumbled, leaning against the counter and sipping down from my cup again.

The clock was starting to hit nine, both the kids were up and with Michael in Posi's place.

"Hello, boys." The door swung open, Lia appearing in with a garment bag over her shoulder dramatically.

"Never say that again." I groaned, placing the coffee cup down and leaning my head in my hands to block the very annoying light.

"Wow, think you'd be a little more chipper on your wedding day." She held back a squeak of excitement as she tossed the bag onto the couch where I had been sleeping last night.

"I'm still waking up." I blinked slowly. I glanced up at her, looking at the outfit she was wearing.
A pink and white gingham sun dress That reached her thighs. Her light blonde hair was up in a loose bun, each piece that strayed out was perfectly curled to make every spec on her seem intentional.
