Enid's POV

I can tell Wednesday's enjoying the place. The black vibe with the expensive gold accent colors, I knew this would be her style, especially with the history behind it. Even if she tries to hide it, I can tell she's having a good time, and I'm glad. I wasn't planning on taking her out tonight, this was actually meant to be for our two-month anniversary in a couple of days. However, I thought moving our reservation to tonight would work since she didn't have the best morning.

I'm proud of Wednesday, and that's another reason why I moved our reservation. She did a big thing today by setting up her first therapy session, and I want her to know that big steps like that, even if she is hesitant, won't go unnoticed in our relationship. She forgets that she's been through so much in such a short time, and taking a break is okay.

Anyways, tonight is about her and making her feel special. The dinner is the only thing I have planned, but as the night goes on, I have a few other things in mind that I believe she would enjoy...

...but we'll save those for later.

"Here," I begin, reaching into my purse. I shuffle my hand around looking for a small box, something I had bought a few days ago. I find the object and pull it out of the bag. "I have something for you." I smile, setting the small black box in the middle of the table, sliding it over to her side. She looks at me curiously, picking up the box.

"What is this?" Wednesday questions, examining the object. It's a small black box with a white ribbon around it, with the ribbon neatly tied into a bow. I know my girlfriend isn't the biggest fan of color, so I made sure to keep it as colorless as possible. "Should I open this with caution?" She continues, completely serious.

Sometimes I forget Wednesday isn't used to getting non-deadly gifts...or gifts in general.

"No no, nothing like that." I respond, smiling to her, and I watch as she slowly unwraps the gift. She places the ribbon on the table, takes a moment, then removes the lid from the small box. It's a silver ring, one with small intricate silver details in the design of flowers for the base, and a super tiny black gemstone in the shape of an "E."

I must say, it was a process to get this gift for her. I mean, I made the design myself, had to find a custom jeweler that was willing to do it for me, and then had to sell nearly half my clothes on Depop for me to afford the price of it, but it's okay because it turned out amazing.

Wednesday stares at the ring, tracing her finger along the engravings made into the accessory.

"I hope you like it." I say, noticing her silence. I don't take it as a negative thing, I know that's how she processes situations. "Oh, I almost forgot!" I say, remembering that wasn't the only part to the gift. I turn back to my purse, rummaging through the bag. A few seconds later I remove my hand, placing the second item in front of her. Now sitting on the table is two flower petals preserved in a solid glass cube, one of the petals being from a black dahlia, and the other coming from a pink daisy.

I wasn't planning on getting her a second gift either, but I had seen an add on Etsy for a reasonable price and I was hooked.

"I know that black dahlias are your favorite, and since pink daisies are my favorite I thought it would be cute." I note, smiling at the gift as she carefully picks it up. Before I continue talking, I pause, noticing the ring I bought her is already on her left ring finger. "Black dahlias and pink daisies are really different flowers, I mean, that's obvious. But when you put them together...they make a pretty beautiful piece of artwork." I say. She gently nods her head.
