Ever since that kiss, Aurora hadn't spoken to Theo much

Ever since that kiss, Aurora hadn't spoken to Theo much. It wasn't that she was avoiding him intentionally; it just seemed easier to keep her distance. She didn't like the way her heart fluttered every time she saw him, or how her thoughts drifted to that kiss more often than she cared to admit. The memory of it lingered, sometimes so vivid that she could almost feel the warmth of his lips on hers again.

Now, winter had settled in, blanketing Hogwarts in a layer of snow that softened the edges of the world. Christmas was fast approaching, and the castle was a flurry of holiday preparations. Garlands of holly and mistletoe adorned the hallways, and the Great Hall sparkled with enchanted snowflakes falling from the ceiling. But for all the festive cheer, Aurora felt a familiar weight pressing down on her. Christmas had always been a time of solitude for her, a chance to escape the suffocating presence of her family by staying at Hogwarts. This year was no different or at least, that's what she thought.

One evening, as she sat alone in the Slytherin common room, the flickering fire casting long shadows on the walls, she found herself lost in thought. The other students had gone to bed or were out in the hallways, leaving the room eerily quiet. Aurora welcomed the solitude, letting the crackling of the fire soothe her as she curled up on the sofa, a book open on her lap. She wasn't really reading, though; her mind kept wandering back to Theo, to the way he had looked at her that night, and to the questions she had left unanswered.

Her reverie was interrupted when someone quietly took a seat beside her. She glanced over, her heart skipping a beat when she saw that it was Theo.

"What are you doing here?" Aurora asked, trying to sound indifferent as she closed her book and set it aside.

Theo shrugged, leaning back into the sofa with his usual nonchalance. "I'm staying here for Christmas."

Aurora raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. Theo rarely stayed at Hogwarts over the holidays, preferring to spend the time with his father, Tiberius Nott, a man whose reputation in the wizarding world was almost as dark as the Black family's, if not worse. "Why?" she asked, genuinely curious now.

Theo looked at her, his expression softening in a way that made her heart ache. "Same reason you're not going back home."

Aurora nodded, understanding immediately. It was the unspoken truth between them both of their families were steeped in darkness, burdened by expectations and legacies they had never asked for. Tiberius Nott was a name that carried weight, a man whose allegiances had always been questionable, whose dealings in the wizarding world were as shadowy as they were dangerous. And then there was the Black family, whose name alone was enough to send shivers down the spine of any wizard or witch. The weight of their shared understanding hung in the air between them, a silent acknowledgment of the lives they were born into.

After a moment, Theo broke the silence. "Why have you been ignoring me, Aurora?"

Aurora didn't have an answer, or at least not one she was willing to share. The truth was, she didn't know how to deal with the feelings that had surfaced since their kiss. She had always been in control, always kept people at arm's length, but Theo had a way of getting under her skin, of making her feel things she wasn't ready to face. So she remained silent, her gaze fixed on the fire. The flames danced in her eyes, reflecting the turmoil she felt inside.

Seeing that she wasn't going to answer, Theo stood up and gestured for her to follow him. "Come on. Let's go to the boys' dormitory. It's quieter there."

Aurora hesitated, her mind racing with thoughts of what could happen if she went with him. But then she saw the sincerity in his eyes, the way he looked at her without judgment or expectation, and something in her softened. She got up and followed him, the warmth of the fire lingering on her skin as they left the common room.

When they reached the boys' dormitory, Aurora was surprised to find the room impeccably clean. The beds were neatly made, and the floor was free of the usual clutter of schoolbooks, robes, and broomsticks.

Theo smirked as he noticed her surprise. "Wait till Draco gets back. It won't be so clean then."

They both laughed, the tension between them easing slightly. But then Theo turned to face her, his expression turning serious once more. "So, why have you been avoiding me?"

Aurora looked away, mumbling, "I don't know."

Theo, always one to lighten the mood, quipped, "Maybe it's because most Black family members only sleep with their relatives."

Aurora shot him a glare and punched him lightly on the arm. "Shut up, Nott."

Theo chuckled, the sound warm and genuine, but then his expression softened, and the teasing glint in his eyes was replaced with something more sincere. He took a step closer to her, his hand brushing against hers as he asked, "Can I kiss you now?"

Aurora hesitated for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew what she was feeling, knew that the attraction between them was more than just a fleeting fancy. But she also knew that getting involved with Theo was risky more so than with anyone else. They both came from families with dark pasts and even darker expectations. To open her heart to him was to invite complications she wasn't sure she was ready for.

But as she looked into his eyes, she saw not the son of Tiberius Nott, not the Slytherin prince, but just Theo. And in that moment, her fear gave way to something stronger. She nodded, giving him the permission he sought.

Theo leaned in, their lips meeting in a kiss that was more deliberate, more certain than the last. The world around them seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them in the dimly lit dormitory. The heat between them intensified, the kiss deepening as Theo's hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer. His lips trailed down to her neck, each kiss sending shivers down her spine as he grew more aggressive, more hungry.

But before things could go too far, Aurora pulled back, placing a hand on his chest to stop him. Her breath was ragged, her heart racing, but her mind was clear. She met Theo's gaze, and he saw the seriousness in her eyes the boundaries she was setting, the respect she demanded.

"I'm not one of the girls you usually make out with, Theo," Aurora said, her voice firm but not unkind. "I'm a Black. You will treat me with respect, or I will burn you."

Theo didn't doubt her for a second. He remembered all too well the incident last year when she had set a Hufflepuff on fire for crossing her a minor offense, really, but one that had earned her a week's worth of detention and a reputation as someone not to be trifled with. He nodded solemnly, his expression earnest. "Understood."

Satisfied, Aurora stepped back, smoothing her robes as she tried to regain her composure. The fire between them still burned, but she knew better than to let it consume her. She had boundaries, lines that she wouldn't let even Theo cross not yet, anyway.

"Good night, Theo," she said, her voice softer now, almost tender, as she turned to leave the room.

As she walked away, Theo watched her go, a mixture of admiration and respect in his eyes. He had always known that Aurora was different, that she wasn't like the other girls who fawned over him or tried to win his favor. She was strong, fierce, and unyielding, and he knew better than to underestimate her. But there was something else too, something that made him want to know her better, to understand the girl behind the name, behind the legacy.

As he climbed into bed that night, the memory of their kiss lingered, the warmth of her lips still fresh in his mind.

Aurora, too, lay in bed that night, her thoughts swirling with memories of Theo, of the way his touch had ignited something deep within her. She didn't know where this path would lead, but for the first time in a long while, she didn't feel so alone.

But as she drifted off to sleep, one thought lingered in the back of her mind: Theo Nott was a risk, a dangerous one at that. And in the world they lived in, risks could get you killed. But then again, what was life without a little danger?
