As the Hogwarts Express rumbled toward their destination, the familiar, rhythmic clatter of the train's wheels provided a comforting backdrop for the students returning to the castle. Despite the steady hum, the atmosphere in the Slytherin compartment was anything but calm. Aurora sat near the window, her gaze fixed on the rolling hills outside, but her thoughts were elsewhere. She could feel Theo's eyes on her, and when she finally turned to meet his gaze, he subtly nodded, signaling that he wanted to talk privately.

Their silent exchange did not go unnoticed. Pansy, Daphne, and Millicent exchanged curious glances, but no one said a word. Aurora knew she couldn't avoid Theo forever, so when the train took a sharp turn and the corridor cleared out, she stood up casually and left the compartment. A few seconds later, Theo followed, and they slipped into one of the narrow bathrooms, shutting the door behind them with a soft click.

The tension between them was palpable. Theo immediately moved in for a kiss, his lips aiming for her neck, his usual tactic when he wanted to distract her. But this time, Aurora wasn't having it. She quickly pushed him back, her expression hardening as she held him at arm's length.

"Come on, Aurora," Theo whispered, his voice thick with frustration. "You told your father about us?"

Aurora's eyes narrowed. "Yes, I had to, "he replied, his tone clipped. She crossed her arms. "I'm sorry, I was wrong for doing that. He read our letters, Aurora. I had no choice."

Theo tried to reach out to her, his hand hovering just above her arm. "But you and I... we're really good together."

Aurora felt her chest tighten, the memories of the summer flooding her mind. "Good together? Do you even know what happened to me after Walburga found out?"

Theo's face paled slightly, guilt flashing in his eyes. He opened his mouth to speak, but Aurora cut him off, her voice laced with bitterness. "She tortured me, Theo. For hours. Because of you. Because of us."

For a moment, Theo looked utterly lost for words. His usual confident demeanor crumbled as he tried to process what she had just said. "Aurora, I... I had no idea..."

Before he could muster an apology, Aurora had already made up her mind. She didn't want to hear his excuses or apologies. She stormed out of the bathroom, leaving Theo in stunned silence.

Back in the compartment, she slipped into her seat beside Millicent, who immediately sensed something was off. The usual spark in Aurora's eyes was dimmed, replaced with a hardened resolve that made Millicent uneasy.

"Everything okay?" Millicent asked quietly, her voice laced with concern.

Aurora nodded, but her thoughts were miles away. She was still replaying the conversation with Theo in her mind, trying to suppress the rising tide of emotions.

The rest of the train ride passed in a blur. Aurora was grateful for the distractions provided by her friends, though her mind remained preoccupied. When they finally arrived at Hogwarts, the familiar sight of the castle did little to ease the turmoil she felt. As much as she loved Hogwarts, it was also the place where she had to maintain her façade, where she had to be strong, cunning, and unyielding. And this year, more than ever, she felt the weight of that expectation.

After dinner in the Great Hall, the Slytherins gathered for their first party of the school year. The common room was abuzz with excitement, the air thick with anticipation. Aurora knew she had to make an appearance, so she got ready in her dorm room, surrounded by her closest friends: Pansy, Daphne, and Millicent. Over the past year, they had grown incredibly close, bonding over shared experiences and the pressures of Slytherin life.

Aurora pulled out the dress she had chosen for the night a stunning black halter dress that hugged her figure perfectly. The dress was elegant yet provocative, a perfect reflection of Aurora's complex persona. As she slipped into the dress, she caught sight of herself in the mirror, the sight of her own reflection sparking a moment of doubt. But she quickly pushed it aside, focusing instead on the night ahead.

As they dressed, Daphne animatedly recounted a summer fling, her voice filled with excitement as she shared the details. "And then, just like that, we hooked up. Can you believe it?"

Millicent, ever the curious one, peppered Daphne with questions about the experience, while Pansy remained unusually quiet. Aurora noticed it immediately Pansy wasn't just upset about being left out of the conversation. She was jealous because someone else had touched her Daphne.

Finally, they made their way to the party. The common room was transformed into a lively gathering spot, with music pumping through the speakers and drinks flowing freely. Aurora could feel the buzz in the air as they entered, the energy of the room almost tangible.

Pansy, seemingly determined to distract herself, dragged Aurora onto the dance floor. They danced closely, their bodies moving in sync, almost as if they were trying to drown out their thoughts with the rhythm of the music. The pulsating beat provided a temporary escape from the confusion and pain that lingered in the back of their minds.

The night wore on, and the drinks kept flowing. By the time an hour had passed, both Pansy and Aurora were heavily intoxicated. The alcohol blurred the edges of reality, making everything feel a little less real, a little less painful.

They eventually found themselves sitting on a couch in the corner of the room, Pansy slumped against Aurora, her eyes glassy with tears. Aurora could sense the vulnerability in Pansy, the carefully constructed walls she had built around herself starting to crack.

"What's wrong?" Aurora asked, concern lacing her voice.

Pansy hesitated, then finally blurted out, "I've had a crush on Daphne since last year. And now... all she cares about is boys."

Aurora didn't know what to say, the confession taking her by surprise. She had always seen Pansy as confident, self-assured, and somewhat ruthless when it came to getting what she wanted. But now, seeing her so vulnerable, Aurora felt a pang of empathy.

Before she could respond, Pansy leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was hesitant at first, almost testing the waters. But when Pansy asked if they could go to their room, Aurora, too drunk to think clearly, agreed.

The moment they entered their room, the tension between them exploded. Aurora pressed Pansy against the wall, their mouths crashing together in a heated kiss. What started as a desperate attempt to escape their pain quickly turned into something more intense as they stumbled toward the bed.

That night, they crossed a line neither of them could ever take back.
