The Great Hall was a scene of bittersweet emotions. The war was over, but the aftermath still hung heavily over the survivors. Aurora stood in the center of the room, her heart aching for those who were injured and mourning the fallen. She knew the battle was won, but now came the task of healing the wounds left behind, both physical and emotional.
As the hall filled with quiet sobs and whispered reassurances, Aurora moved through the room, her hands glowing softly with healing magic as she tended to the injured. Though she had spent years studying magic, today felt different. Today, her magic was more than just a tool it was a lifeline for those clinging to hope.
Pansy, Daphne, Millicent, and Blaise worked alongside her, each doing their part. Nearby, Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione comforted the wounded, while Theo and Draco offered whatever help they could, their faces set in quiet determination. Even Astoria, usually so reserved, moved gently among the survivors, her calm presence soothing those in pain.
Aurora knelt beside a young boy whose arm was badly injured from a curse. She placed her hand over the wound, allowing her magic to flow into him. "It's going to be okay," she whispered, and gradually, the tension in his body eased. He looked up at her with a mix of awe and gratitude.
"Thank you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
Aurora smiled softly. "You're safe now. It's over."
Hours passed, and the group continued their work tirelessly. By the time the last of the injured were cared for, the Great Hall had been transformed into a sanctuary of healing, a space filled with the quiet murmur of comfort rather than the harsh sounds of battle. Aurora finally allowed herself to take a breath, feeling the weight of exhaustion settle in.
They stepped outside, into the fresh air, the sun slowly rising over the horizon. The group fell into pairs, their hands interlinked as they walked out of the castle. Aurora held Theo's hand, while beside her, Pansy and Daphne strolled together. Millicent and Blaise walked a little ahead, their fingers casually intertwined, and Harry and Ginny, along with Ron and Hermione, walked side by side. Even Draco and Astoria followed behind, their usual guarded expressions softened.
As they crossed the grounds of Hogwarts, Aurora looked up at the ruins of the castle. The sight filled her with a deep sadness. Hogwarts had been their sanctuary, their home, and seeing it in such a state of destruction made her heart ache. Without thinking, she raised her wand and focused her magic, willing the castle to begin mending itself.
Stone by stone, the walls started to reassemble. The others watched in silence as the castle slowly rebuilt itself, the rubble lifting and falling back into place.
Ron shook his head and laughed. "Aurora, you just survived a killing curse and now you're fixing Hogwarts? You should be resting!"
Aurora smirked, not breaking her focus. "Harry survived it twice and he's still standing. Maybe he's the one who should be resting."
The group burst into laughter, the sound ringing through the air like a breath of fresh life. It was a moment of lightness they all desperately needed after so much darkness.
As the laughter faded, Aurora's mind drifted back to the question that had been gnawing at her since the battle. She glanced at Harry, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Harry, how did I survive? I mean... I should've been—"
Harry hesitated, glancing down at the ground for a moment before looking back up at her. His expression was serious now, as though he'd been carrying a weight he was finally ready to share. "There's something I haven't told you, Aurora."
Aurora's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"
Harry ran a hand through his messy hair, clearly struggling to find the right words. "There's a part of the prophecy, the one about Voldemort and me. But it wasn't just about me, or even Neville. There's another part about you."
Aurora blinked, confusion swirling in her chest. "Me? But... that can't be right. I thought you were the one in the prophecy."
Harry nodded. "Yeah, that's what we all thought, too. But there was another part, a piece Dumbledore kept hidden. He didn't think we were ready to know, not until recently. I found out about it a few weeks ago, after..." He paused, taking a deep breath. "After Dumbledore's death."
Aurora stared at him, the weight of his words settling over her like a cold wind. "What does it say?"
Harry swallowed, his voice lowering as he recited the words he had learned in secret. "Yet, in the shadows, another rises, a descendant of bloodlines long forgotten... Aurora Black, born of ancient magic, will emerge as the darkness swallows light... She alone holds the final key, for only she can summon the fire that ends the Dark Lord's reign..."
Aurora's breath caught in her throat. "What are you saying, Harry?"
He looked at her, his green eyes filled with a mix of sadness and understanding. "You were always part of it, Aurora. From the beginning. The prophecy wasn't just about me it was about you, too. Dumbledore didn't tell anyone because he didn't want to put that kind of burden on you. But when Voldemort tried to kill you... the bond between you and your dragons... it was their love that protected you. Just like my mum's love saved me."
Theo, who had been listening intently, couldn't resist a smile. "My wife is full of surprises," he said with a playful tone.
The word "wife" caused a ripple of silence to spread through the group. Aurora turned to Theo, her eyes wide with surprise. "Your wife?" she echoed, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
Theo hesitated, suddenly realizing the weight of what he had said. "I—well, I mean... do you not like the idea?" he asked, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
Aurora's expression softened, her heart swelling with affection. "I love it," she whispered, her hand tightening around his.
The moment was tender, but it was soon interrupted by Draco stepping forward, his face serious as he addressed Harry, Ron, and especially Hermione. "I want to apologize," Draco began, his voice low but sincere, as he met Hermione's eyes. He paused, searching for the right words as guilt weighed heavily on him. "I was brought up to think a certain way, to treat people like they were beneath me, but I know better now. I hurt you, and I have no excuse."
Pansy, standing beside him, shifted nervously but found the courage to speak. "I'm sorry too, Hermione," she added, her voice quieter but no less genuine. "I was awful to you. I did it because everyone expected me to, and I thought it made me stronger... but it didn't. You didn't deserve any of it."
Hermione studied them both, her sharp gaze softening as she saw the sincerity in their faces. She crossed her arms, still hesitant, but nodded. "It's not easy to admit when you're wrong," she said quietly. "But it takes courage to change." She paused, letting out a small sigh. "Thank you. Your apology means a lot, more than you know."
After the apologies, Aurora turned her attention to Millicent and Blaise, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "So," she began, her tone light, "when did this start?" She gestured to their interlinked hands.
Millicent blushed slightly, her tough exterior cracking just a bit. "This year," she admitted, glancing at Blaise, who smiled back at her.
Daphne, always quick to chime in, couldn't resist a bit of teasing. "They're worse than you and Theo, Aurora. They always forget to lock the doors or do the Silencing Spell."
The group burst into laughter, the tension of the day melting away in the shared humor. It was a moment of normalcy, a reminder that despite everything they had been through, they were still young, still capable of laughter and love.
As the laughter subsided, the group stood together, their hands still intertwined. They looked out over the grounds of Hogwarts, the castle slowly being restored to its former glory. The war was over, but the work of rebuilding was just beginning.
But in that moment, surrounded by friends, by love, Aurora knew that they would face whatever came next together. They had survived the darkness, and now, they would walk into the light hand in hand, stronger than ever before.
