Aurora woke up the next morning in the sterile, overly bright confines of the hospital wing. The previous night was a blur, a haze of emotion and desperation that led her to do something she could hardly remember now. The healers had cleansed her system of the pills she had swallowed, an act of self-destruction she barely recognized as her own. The potions and charms they used left her feeling empty, as if they had siphoned out not only the poison but everything inside her, leaving nothing but a hollow shell.

Madam Pomfrey had checked on her earlier, given her a few words of advice, and told her she was free to leave. But Aurora had refused to go. She didn't want to return to the world just yet. Here, in the quiet solitude of the hospital wing, she could delay facing whatever came next.

She sat in the bed, her fingers nervously picking at her nails. The skin around them was raw, torn, and bloody, but she couldn't stop. It was a distraction, something to focus on besides the gnawing emptiness that had driven her to this place. The repetitive action was almost comforting in its small, controlled pain.

The silence was broken by the sound of approaching footsteps. Aurora's heart sank as she recognized the light, deliberate tread. Theo. She had hoped he wouldn't come, that he would leave her alone to wallow in her self-imposed isolation. But she should have known better. Theo never left her to suffer alone.

He approached her bed slowly, his presence a steady force that she both craved and feared. He didn't say anything at first, just stood there, looking at her with those deep, concerned eyes that seemed to see right through her defenses. His gaze softened as he reached out, gently stroking her hair before leaning down to press a soft kiss on her forehead.

"My sweet girl," he murmured, his voice filled with a tenderness that shattered whatever fragile walls Aurora had managed to build around herself.

That was it. The breaking point. The words, the warmth of his touch, the unconditional love that radiated from him it was all too much. The floodgates burst open, and Aurora broke down completely. Tears streamed down her face as the weight of everything she had been holding back came crashing down on her.

Theo didn't say anything, didn't try to offer empty reassurances or platitudes. He just held her, his strong arms wrapping around her as she cried into his chest. It was as if his presence alone was enough to bear the burden she had been carrying for so long. He stayed with her, through every sob, every shaky breath, standing firm like a pillar she could lean on.

They remained like that for what felt like an eternity, locked in an embrace that spoke of shared pain and silent understanding. Theo had always been her anchor, the one person who knew how to be there for her without asking anything in return. And right now, she needed him more than ever.

Finally, when her tears began to subside, Aurora pulled away slightly, wiping her face with the back of her hand. She felt drained, as if the tears had washed away everything inside her, leaving only a hollow ache in their wake. Theo's hand remained on her back, rubbing soothing circles as she took a few deep, shaky breaths.
