The breakup between Aurora and Theo was something everyone noticed, but no one dared to address directly. Whispers filled the corridors, and their friends exchanged knowing glances, but neither Aurora nor Theo offered any explanations. The silence between them was deafening, a void that none of their friends could breach despite their attempts. Every time Pansy or Draco tried to ask Aurora what happened, she would brush it off, deflecting with a cold stare or a sharp change of subject. Theo was no different, his responses curt and distant, shutting down any conversation that veered too close to the truth.

Saturday arrived, bringing with it the promise of a much-needed distraction. There was a party in the Slytherin common room, and everyone was planning to attend. Aurora, determined to drown out the lingering pain of the breakup, decided she would drink until she couldn't remember her own name. She wanted to lose herself in the noise, the chaos, the feeling of being utterly and completely numb. As the night wore on, she did just that throwing back shots of Firewhisky, dancing with a reckless abandon, and smoking anything offered to her. She laughed loudly, her voice blending with the music, her mind blissfully devoid of thoughts of Theo.

For a while, it worked. She managed to push everything to the back of her mind, the alcohol and the music filling the empty spaces where memories of Theo had once resided. But the reprieve was short-lived. Aurora's carefree facade shattered the moment she saw Theo on the dance floor, his arms around Tracey Davis. Tracey, with her perfectly coiffed hair and annoyingly sweet smile. Tracey, whom Aurora had always disliked for reasons she couldn't quite explain but knew deep down were rooted in something petty and irrational.

Seeing them together felt like a punch to the gut. Theo knew how much she despised Tracey, and yet here he was, dancing with her as if nothing mattered, as if Aurora was a distant memory. Her blood boiled with a mix of anger and hurt. She knew Theo was trying to get under her skin, to make her feel the sting of their breakup, and damn it, it was working. But if he wanted to play games, Aurora was more than willing to participate.

Two could play at this.

Her eyes scanned the room until they landed on Adrian Pucey, a seventh-year with a reputation for being charming and dangerously good-looking. Without a second thought, Aurora sauntered over to him, a smirk playing on her lips. She caught his attention immediately, her hand trailing along his arm as she leaned in close, her voice low and seductive.

"Want to help me make someone jealous?" she whispered, her breath warm against his ear.

Adrian grinned, never one to turn down a chance to stir the pot. "Who am I to say no?" he replied, his hands finding their way to her waist.

Before long, they were making out in the middle of the room, Aurora pressing herself against Adrian with an intensity that surprised even her. She wanted to make sure Theo saw them, wanted to make sure he understood that she was just fine without him. But after about ten minutes, she pulled away, breathless and slightly dizzy from the alcohol and adrenaline. Her eyes instinctively sought out Theo, hoping to catch a glimpse of his reaction.

But instead of the jealousy or anger she had hoped to see, she saw something far worse. Theo was leaving the room, Tracey's hand firmly in his, as they made their way toward the stairwell that led to the prefect rooms. Aurora's heart sank, a cold wave of despair washing over her. He wasn't just trying to make her jealous he was moving on, right in front of her.

Madness and sadness twisted together inside her, forming a knot of emotions too painful to untangle. She felt like screaming, like tearing the whole room apart, but instead, she turned on her heel and fled to the girls' dormitory. Once there, she threw herself onto her bed, the tears she had been holding back finally spilling over. But she didn't cry for long. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction. Instead, she fell into a fitful sleep, her mind already working on something far more sinister than tears.

Aurora awoke early the next morning, her head throbbing with the remnants of last night's excess. But as soon as she opened her eyes, the events of the previous night came rushing back, along with a cold, calculated resolve. She knew exactly what she needed to do. She had read about Bloodroot Poison once, a particularly nasty potion that induced choking and death within minutes of consumption. It was a poison so subtle, so deadly, that even the most skilled healers could do nothing once it had taken hold.

She would make it. And she would use it on Tracey Davis.

The morning passed in a blur as Aurora gathered the necessary ingredients. Her mind was singularly focused, the usual moral hesitations nowhere to be found. She brewed the potion carefully, the dark liquid bubbling ominously in the cauldron. By the time breakfast was being served in the Great Hall, Aurora had slipped a vial of the poison into her robe pocket, her heart pounding with anticipation.

As she entered the Great Hall, she noticed Theo and Tracey almost immediately. They walked in together, hand in hand, their heads bent close as they spoke in low voices. They didn't even glance in Aurora's direction as they took their seats at the far end of the Slytherin table, away from Draco, Pansy, Daphne, Millicent, and Aurora herself. The sight made Aurora's blood boil, but she forced herself to remain calm. Her plan was already in motion.

She waited patiently, her eyes never leaving Tracey's plate. Somehow, during the hustle of breakfast being served, she managed to get close enough to slip a few drops of the Bloodroot Poison into Tracey's food without anyone noticing. It was almost too easy.

Fifteen minutes passed. Aurora watched intently as Tracey began to eat, her eyes narrowing with each bite the girl took. The others at the table were oblivious, chatting and laughing about Quidditch and classes, completely unaware of the horror that was about to unfold.

Then, it happened. Tracey suddenly clutched her throat, her eyes wide with panic. She gasped for air, but no sound came out. Her face turned a ghastly shade of blue as she continued to choke, her hands flailing helplessly. The hall fell silent as students turned to watch in horror, whispers spreading like wildfire.

Theo was the first to react, his face a mask of fear and confusion. He tried to help her, but it was too late. Within moments, Tracey collapsed, her body convulsing on the floor before going completely still. The realization hit the hall like a thunderclap Tracey Davis was dead.

Theo's gaze snapped to Aurora, his eyes blazing with fury and accusation. He knew. He knew exactly what she had done. Aurora met his gaze across the hall, a cold smile curving her lips as she slowly stood up. She didn't need to say a word. The look in her eyes said it all.

Without another glance, she turned and walked out of the Great Hall, leaving the chaos behind her. As she passed through the doors, the screams and shouts faded into the distance, replaced by a cold, echoing silence in her mind.

Aurora had won. But as she strode down the empty corridors, her victory felt hollow, the triumph tainted by a darkness that even she couldn't fully comprehend.

The taste of vengeance was bitter, but it was all she had left.
