It had been several weeks since Aurora Black and Dimitri had started seeing each other. Their relationship had blossomed in the usual ways stolen kisses in secluded corridors, shared laughter over meals in the Great Hall, and countless late-night conversations that left Aurora feeling a warmth she hadn't known she was missing. Yet, despite the connection they shared, Dimitri hadn't officially asked Aurora to be his girlfriend. Not that it mattered much; he'd started referring to her as such in conversations with their friends, and Aurora found she didn't mind. In fact, she liked the sound of it.
But not everything was as simple as it seemed. There was a storm brewing on the horizon, one that had a name: Theodore Nott. Theo had always been the mischief-maker among their group, the one with a sharp tongue and an even sharper wit. He was the kind of person who enjoyed pushing boundaries, but lately, he had taken it a step further. Aurora couldn't ignore the way Theo seemed intent on stirring the pot, particularly when it came to her relationship with Dimitri.
It was no secret that Theo had always harbored a certain fondness for Aurora, a fondness that often manifested as teasing or playful jabs. But now, things had taken a different turn. To Aurora's dismay, Theo had started dating Tracy Davis, a girl with a reputation for gossip and a sharp tongue. Aurora had never particularly liked Tracy; she found her shallow and annoying. So, when Theo started spending time with her, Aurora couldn't shake the feeling that he was doing it just to get under her skin.
And it was working.
The tension between them all reached a boiling point on the night of the first task of the Triwizard Tournament. Harry Potter had won, and Gryffindor was celebrating in their common room with a party that could be heard echoing through the castle. Slytherins, naturally, were not invited, so they decided to throw their own gathering in the dungeons. The air was thick with excitement, but beneath the surface, emotions were running high.
Aurora and Dimitri were inseparable that evening. They danced together in the dimly lit common room, the music loud enough to drown out any lingering worries. Aurora felt herself relax as she moved in sync with Dimitri, his hands resting on her hips as they swayed to the rhythm. He leaned down and kissed her, a soft yet firm press of his lips against hers that made her heart flutter. For a moment, everything else melted away until she noticed Theo watching them.
Theo's gaze was sharp, a mixture of something she couldn't quite place. He was sitting across the room, a drink in his hand, with Tracy draped over him like an ornament. She was clinging to him, her head resting on his shoulder as she laughed at something he hadn't even said. But Theo didn't seem interested. He barely looked at Tracy, his eyes locked on Aurora and Dimitri as they danced.
Tracy, sensing Theo's distraction, tried to pull him back to her. She hugged him tighter, leaning in to kiss him, but Theo pulled away, his expression unreadable. Frustration flickered across Tracy's face, but before she could protest, Theo stood up, leaving her to sit alone as he made his way over to the makeshift bar on the other side of the room.
