"Ladies and gentlemen. Our flight will be making its final descent into Los Angeles in approximately twenty minutes. In preparation of our landing please make sure your seatbelts are fastened, turn off your portable devices and bring your seat backs to an upright position. On behalf of our in flight crew and our Captain and first officer we would like to thank you for flying American Airlines. If you are connecting to another flight please see the attendants outside....." Alina tuned out as she closed down her phone. She had been aimlessly scrolling through her pictures and feeling sorry for herself. She really couldn't afford to do that and expect to be healthy and in the right state of mind as she went through this pregnancy. Whatever fear she had about her state had left her the moment she stepped on to the commercial flight. She hadn't wanted to use the jet because Evan was sure to need it and she hadn't wanted to give explanations to anyone. Her life, for the first time ever was in her own hands. No matter how much she loved Evan and was sorry for their parting words she needed to care for the budding life that was growing within her. She would do her very best for her child and would not allow anyone to get in the way of that not even her babies father. He would have to figure things out in his own and she hoped that he would but in the end if he couldn't bring himself to forgive her  then she would accept it and carry on. She could and would raise her child alone and if that came to be, she would do it without his help. She couldn't fight off an army of his lawyers for custody, that was true....but the man who stood in the room with her after learning she was pregnant didn't seem to want anything to do with her much less a child. So...her options at the moment seemed many. However her first action would be to let her family know she wasn't coming home. She wasn't sure when she would be back, but she would be safe and she would t be alone. She looked out the window as the Los Angeles skyline came into view and sighed. Today would be the beginning of a new adventure. She prayed it would be the best one of her life.

"What do you mean Mrs. Alexander is not on the plane?" Evan listened as the Captain explained again and then he abruptly ended the call. She had never arrived at the private airport and hadn't made arrangements to return home early. She wasn't at their New York estate and she hadn't used her credit cards to check in anywhere. Where the hell was she? He called her again and this time left her a message. "Alina...this is ridiculous. You need to answer my calls. We need to talk. I wasn't ready to hear the news of your pregnancy and well...I was taken by surprise and, and you never gave me a choice when you stopped taking the pill.I just can't be happy about it knowing all the risks involved. You need to call me back. We need to talk this through and figure things out now". He ended the call and then realized he hadn't even told her he loved her. "Fuck me....what the hell is wrong with you Evan!!!" He was about to call her again when his phone range and he immediately answered..."Alina?"... "Evan....sorry this is Dr. McKinnon....I take it you haven't spoke. With your wife since you were in my office?" Evan closed his eyes and replied "no, I haven't been able to reach her". For the next ten minutes he listened to the doctor that had taken care of him and his family for most of his life. Each time the old man spoke he felt a pang of regret stab him in the heart. What he finally heard was that each pregnancy was different. Although it was a traumatic experience to loose a child and to find one's loved one in those conditions it didn't mean their was no hope of future children. She was healthy and so was he. Proof of that was that Alina was pregnant again. "Listen Evan. I'm sure she is just fine and on her way home. She is showing you that she can manage on her own but it's up to you to demonstrate to her that she doesn't have to. I can see how much you love her. Don't let pride or ego or fear get in your way. You have seen what that can do. Take courage and love you wife through this. Believe me when I say that life is precious and brief. We don't all get second chances much less thirds". When he finally ended the call he felt the weight shift in his heart. He loved Alina. There was nothing more true than that. He would start their and trust that whatever lay in store for them they would handle together. Even if it meant another miscarriage. If he didn't it meant a life of loneliness and grief. However he was choosing that now by not being by her side. Before he could call her again the phone rang incessantly more. It was Christian. He watched as his brothers name lit up his screen. He was Haitians to answer it but finally pressed the green button. "Hello, Christian?"
