The path was lit only by the crescent moon that remained in the sky. The last few days had seen a storm pass through bringing with it heavy rains, a turbulence of sea and sky that was furious to behold. While the island was serene and beautiful under the golden light of the sun, at night it could be both mysterious and terrifying but for the light of the moon and stars. The storm had disrupted the clouds, kicked up the sand and distorted the tree lines with its awesome strength. Even now, a few days after it's great power tore through the small island. The cloud cover overhead was merely one more reason the night was dark and dismal. Evan had wanted the man's head almost as soon as he had seen Alina faint. Had it not been for Christian there would have been bloodshed that night and he would have had to live with another man's death on his conscience. It wasn't as though he was a good man, an honorable man, even a man deluded but fighting for some kind of righteousness. No it was a monster who had resided inside the body of a man. A man he should have delivered up to the authorities. He might never know the reason but the decision was taken out of his hands and right now he was glad for it.

Something stirred in the man's memory as he watched the brunette tilt forward and then collapse before his eyes. He recalled a time when his mother had fainted because she was sick with worry and apprehension over a fight she had had with their father. It had been about them of course but regardless he was honestly afraid that he had killed his mother. She above all else was someone he loved honestly and with abandon. He didn't like it when she was upset with him or outright angry. It made him nervous, distraught and reckless. When she had discovered his deceptions and how he had betrayed his brother he found it difficult to accept her disdain and her fear of him. He could see it in her eyes and it broke something in him completely. She had decided there was something wrong with him but he had convinced her in the end that he had only been playing the old games and this time the consequences had been way beyond what he had expected. She agreed to allow him to fix the situations with the authorities and figure out a way to have his brother released instead he planned his parents murder. It had all gone very smoothly. he shook his head and pushed the memory from his mind and focused on the woman at his feet. She was a beautiful as ever but her face was now pale without a bit of color in her cheeks. Somewhere inside of him he remembered the night he had first seen her. His brother had been the one to meet her first and he couldn't quite understand how the two seemed to quickly get along. It had never been easy for him until he mimicked his twin. That had changed everything. He had decided then and there to make her his. Blinking his eyes he concluded that it had cost him a great deal and he had never achieved his aim. He watched as one of the guards quickly reached her and lifted her up and left the room with her in his arms. He smiled thinking to himself that she would never forget him now. He had been engraved into her mind forever. "Alina will always remember me you know, no matter what you do to me. She will never forget me. I will be in her dreams like a ghost from the past. That's something don't you think?" None of the guards moved an inch or reacted to his comment. He looked at each of them as he tried to stretch his arms. The blood that trickled down from his busted lip served to remind him of why he was there. Alina knew who he was but none of it mattered any more. "Hey can I get a smoke?". Nobody moved in answer to his questions, so he leaned back in his chair and tried to remember who he was. Tried to remember who he used to be and what his name really was. It had been a long time since he had kept track and it all seemed blurry to him now. He just needed some time and he would figure it out.

Alina slowly awoke to voices in the room. At first it was Christians voice but then it was that of the doctore's and then Evans. She felt nauseated as she lifted her head so she kept her eyes closed and remained quite. A few minutes later Evan walked in and walked over to her. He sat next to her as she opened her eyes and he leaned down to kiss her forehead gently. He was like a warm blanket on a chilly day. He instantly made her feel safe and warm. "Evan?" He kissed her lips gently and held her hand. "Alina, its time for us to go home. There is nothing more to learn. No reasons to search for any more....." Evan watched her carefully as she sat up in the bed. "I'm ready to leave. I've done what I set out to do. As far as I'm concerned the man I met first was Kyle. The man I dated and.. and the man I thought to love... was Kyle. The man who tried to hurt me... that man was Michael. The rest doesn't matter anymore now. I'm done". Evan looked at her face and with a crooked smile said "were done baby, were done".  Miranda walked in with a bowl of soup on a tray and a few crackers. She felt her stomach growl and sat up realizing she hadn't eaten since the day before. Evan walked out of the room and left her to chat with Miranda while he sought out Christian. He knew he wouldn't be done until that waste of life was dead and buried.
