Evan put his jacket on and decided to take a walk outside. The snowfall had stopped and he needed some fresh air to calm the whirlwind of emotions he was feeling. Alina had run up the stairs so quickly that he wasn't sure how to respond. She said she needed to be alone and that he hadn't done anything wrong and to please forgive her. Everything was "perfect" she had said. So why had she reacted that way? Why had she run from his touch? He could feel that she was enjoying herself as much as he was. She was open and beautiful in his arms and he felt that they were both feeling the same things at once. Then she was up and gone. He felt frustrated and confused and a good walk would help him sort things out or at least walk off the pent up energy he had in his body. The cabin was a few minutes up the road and so he decided to walk in that direction as it would also give him a good idea of how badly the snow had affected the roads. Alina was supposed to leave Sunday morning but if she changed her mind and decided to leave now or tomorrow morning he wanted to be sure that she could. He would not allow her to leave in dangerous conditions know matter how much she might want to go. He would drive her himself. His truck had chains and he was prepared for anything up here. He hoped in his heart that she wouldn't want to leave, and secretly hoped that they were somehow snowed in. He chuckled at himself because now he sounded like some romantic idiot from a cheap novel. The snow had made a dent but as he reached the road he could see that it was clear and could be driven without chains. He felt disappointed but if she did want to leave he wouldn't be able to give her a reason not too. Just then his phone, that had been in his jacket pocket dinged. It dinged so many times as he fumbled in his pocket to retrieve it that it almost fell out of his hands. He saw that he had 7 voicemail messages and countless texts. What caught his attention however was that, all but one; where from Christian. He felt worried. Something must be urgent or there must be an emergency. This was not Christians style. If he had something to say he would say it clearly and await a response. He wouldn't blow up his phone like this. Evan began by reading his texts. One after the other they were all the same "Call me. Urgent." The last one from Christian was a simple "I will be in ASH by tomorrow". Evan became agitated and now deep worry coursed through his body. Christian wouldn't come to ASH unless something bad was happening. It had to be Gran. He started listening to his voicemails and they were all from Christian except one. Christians voicemails were short like he would have expected. "I'm trying to reach you. When you get this message call at once" .... "Evan, I've been told you might be out of cell service but that you have a landline. Take a look at it and make sure its plugged in. I'm on my was to Ash. We have to talk. Also there's a perfect storm headed your way so if I cant reach you by phone, I will find my way to you. This is about Gran. Its where we left off, but it's more than that. I wouldn't be coming after you like this if it weren't. Take care brother." There was even one from Elliot "Evan. This is Elliot. Your brother has been in contact with me. He need to get in contact with you. Sometime cell phone service is better at the road. I know the landlines were just checked and in working order. Have a look at that as maybe a fallen branch is causing a problem there. Please get in touch with your brother. Say hello to Alina for me. And Evan, that girl is a treasure. Please keep that in mind while you are together. I might be old but I wont hesitate to take you one if she is bothered in any way." Evan starred at his phone in disbelief at what he had heard Elliot say. He knew exactly how precious Alina was and he would never hurt her. The last message was from Christian again "Evan. I'm at Alina's house. Forget everything I just said about Gran. That can wait. Something is wrong regarding Alina. I haven't got the gist of it yet but I'm one hundred percent sure that she is in some kind of immense danger. We are going to be making our way out to you. Your need to be prepared for anything. Once I learn more I will text or call you. I'm never wrong about my gut instincts and she is in some kind of danger or threat. Brother we have trained for years. Its time to gear up". The hair on the back of Evan's neck stood on end. He turned around to run back to the cabin when another message came through. It was a text "Evan. I was right. She is in danger. Some maniac ex-boyfriend called Michael. They've got FBI and local authorities involved. We are headed to the cabin now. Lock it up." He immediately called his brother back but the call would not go through. He began texting when his phone died. Cursing he put the phone in his pocket and began to run back to the cabin. The snow came down heavier this time. The storm was heading there way.
