Alina looked out of the window. It was dark by the time they were cleared to leave. She hadn't spoken much to Evan since they boarded the plane. In less than 24 hours her life had changed once again. Her mind was in a tizzy and he still hadn't told her where they were going. Her mood had become sullen and when he offered her one of the onboard meals she declined and turned her face toward the window. She knew she was being unfair to the man. He was risking everything to see her safe but it rankled  her to think it was just attraction and a sense of duty. She had discovered from his grandmother that he had been in the military after leaving home. He had gone and done his travels as he had shared but he left out the part that what he had really done was runaway to the military. He had always been an outdoorsman, an expert shot, and expert in martial arts, and as it turns out a navy seal. He was on his second tour when he was critically wounded protecting his team. That injury ended his military career. He returned home to recover but it wasn't long before he was gone again and this time it was for good only coming home for visits from time to time. She once again felt that it was his sense of duty that far outweighed his feelings. They had both said they loved each other but how could that be real?. This nightmare that was her life had encapsulated them and the attraction that they both indeed felt, undeniable attraction; had confused the matter. Now once again he was protecting her but she wasn't sure if there was more than that.

Evan closed his eyes after staring at the back of Alina's head for the past hour. She had refused food, and his company; so he left her to stew alone. She had been through the ringer and he knew it. PTSD was a real thing and it didn't just happen to hardened military types. Trauma was trauma and the brain didn't distinguish between the kind of hurts individuals experienced. His thoughts were twisted. He had deliberately pressured her in order to snap her out of her ridiculous notion of leaving him. He knew that she had felt rejection when he didn't immediately accept her request to make love to her. He was trying to do the right thing. He didn't want her to regret her decision. He felt she was acting out of need and was using that as a way to feel safe. If it hadn't been the fact that it would have been her first time he would have gladly accepted. Having sex would have been a balm to her overraught nerves but he didn't want her to associate her first time with that. It was too special and he wanted it to stay that way. If he had known she would react in that manner he might have thought twice. Now all he wanted to do was hold her and kiss her but they needed to speak first. Right now she needed space. She was holding tight to her anger and he needed to ride it out with her.

Alina stretched and fluttered her eyes open a little as the room she was in was completely dark. She felt the sudden feeling of panic coming on and she struggled to breath and fight the overwhelming sensation of terror. She felt herself thrashing left and right.  "Alina, your safe. Your on the plane remember? Your safe. I'm with you. Your safe". She heard the words and she repeated them to herself. All the while breathing hard and thinking through the breaths. "Can you please turn on the light" she asked breathing deeply. Evan turned on the small night light and she was able to see that they were on a bed in what was presumably the bedroom. He was laying right next to her and his face looked over hers with worry. She desperately wanted him to kiss her but was terrified at the thought of him pulling away if she initiated it. So instead she picked a fight. "What are you doing in here?" He looked at her a bit taken aback but then his look of "leave them with a broken heart"' replaced his beautiful features and he was once again aloof and cold. "Alina there's only one bedroom and I didn't think you'd mind. I don't make a habit of taking a virgins virtue without her consent" She gaped at him open mouthed at his mean and carefully chosen words "trust me, your the last person I would give that honor to". He glared at her now as he somehow got lost in the irrationality of the stupid argument. Calming down a bit he said "go back to sleep. We still have eleven hours to go. There are two crews on board so the seats, although  good enough to sleep on; are all taken. Unless of course you want to sleep in the bathroom." Once again his words were icy "why dont you sleep in the bathroom that's what a gentlemen would do" she quickly replied. The words were out of her mouth before she could take them back. She had never met a more perfect gentlemen but now that she had said it, it was almost like she had issued a challenge for him to do the exact opposite. He looked at her with what could only have been a leer and before she knew it he was pressed up against her. She hadn't realized that she had been sleeping in just her camisole. She had been wearing it under the sweatshirt but didn't remember unzipping it or taking it off so either she took it off or her did. The thought made her even more irrationally angry. Now they were chest to chest on their sides and he looked like an angry bull. "Now that you mention it your right I'm not the type of gentlemen your probably used to. Let me see if I can remedy that". It took a nanosecond for her to figure out what he intended but by then his tongue had invaded her mouth and she lost all though as it swept into her mouth and around making himself at home.
