Narrator's Pov
Dyra the fox hugged her friend for the last time as she was about to escape because she knew that if she stayed she would be forced to spend the rest of her life with Neru, the fox she hated so much and was afraid of because he was so rough and wild.
Her friend Norar tried to persuade Dyra to stay but Dyra didn't want to and was determined to run away from there without anyone noticing. Norar brought some provisions for Dyra to try to survive away from the village.
- I'm going to miss you! - Norar said to her friend.
- Come with me! - Dyra said.
- I can't - Norar said.
- I'm scared - Norar said hugging her friend tighter.
- Take care of yourself for me, okay? - Her friend said, breaking the hug.
- I promise! - Dyra said.
- We're all going to miss you a lot - Norar said.
Dyra was beginning to feel moved by the many memories of the good times she had spent in that place that came to mind.
- I wanted to stay but I can't - said Dyra
Dyra thought about going back for a moment but was firm in her decision because she preferred to face the unknown rather than marry Neru.
- I need to go now - said Dyra as she entered the forest
- Dyra looked back for a moment and there was Norar standing there watching her as Dyra entered the forest.
Dyra gave one last wave to Norar before disappearing from her friend's field of vision.
Now just like Toty Dyra was walking towards the unknown, there was no one to help her; she was alone and on her own and only had food for three days.
Dyra started walking towards the mountains. She hoped to get out of her father's domain as soon as possible because she knew that when he noticed her disappearance, he would go after her. Not only would Neru go looking for her so they could be forcibly married, Dyra was afraid that he might do something that would hurt her when he found her. Dyra knew what happened to women who tried to escape marriage. She ran the risk of being beaten by her husband without anyone doing anything to help her. As she left her father's domain, Dyra thought about getting out of there as quickly as possible and thinking about going back. It was proving to be a difficult decision. As she walked through the valley near the mountain, Dyra felt a huge weight and guilt for doing this. But the fox simply tried to ignore those thoughts. It was better to try to be free than to live her whole life subjected to a man who would do whatever he wanted with her. Dyra was feeling invaded by a lot of thoughts that tormented her and told her what to do when an event from the past came to mind, a fox who had been accused of cheating on her husband and was stoned in the village, since that day Dyra told herself that she would never get married!
Dyra continued walking until she reached a mighty river that marked the boundaries of her father's domain. The river had a very strong current and it was advised that no one should try to cross or enter it.
The fox was faced with an obstacle; crossing it could mean freedom.
Dyra looked in all directions, looking for a place where she could cross the river, but she found none.
Dyra became even more discouraged when she saw the body of a huge dead deer being swept away by the waters.
- What now? - Dyra thought, wondering what to do.
Something caught the fox's attention and it was in the right direction. Dyra realized that the further to the right the current lost its speed because the river was a waterfall from left to right, the waterfall coming from the mountain.
