The Wolf and the Fox

Chapter eight

A few years had passed since the village where Toty was born had been massacred and now the survivors had built a new village a little far from where their original village was but now in a place of difficult access and with few resources in which the wolves struggled to survive

The new village was located almost at the mouth of a cave that served as a shelter for the wolves

and made it easy to set up ambushes in case Atora and their group of foxes decided to attack again.

What was left of toty's tribe lived in that place for several years without Atora knowing of their

existence but Atora now knew that some wolves had survived she just didn't know where they would be hiding

Toty's uncle was helping the rest of the group when he saw two young wolves from his tribe running back to the village.

Actor now has allies! - said the black wolf approaching Toty's uncle

I saw everything - said the white wolf panting

Tell me everything ! - said toty's uncle

Where were you? asked the concerned mother

"We were keeping an eye on Atora and their group of foxes," said the white wolf.

"Atora is growing stronger and is making an alliance with another clan of foxes," said the white wolf.

We were caught but we managed to escape - said the black wolf

What ? Asked the angry mother

I already told you two to be careful - said Toty's uncle with a very serious tone.

But we managed to escape - said the black wolf with the flat ears

But you can put the whole Clan in danger - said the wolf whose paw was pierced by an arrow

"We managed to outwit them," said the white wolf.

You could have died and put the whole group in danger - said Toty's uncle irritated "But no one saw us coming here," replied the white wolf.

Does not matter ! You are now grounded, we will keep an eye on you two - said Toty's uncle irritated

The black wolf felt his ear being pulled and the white wolf also had one of his ears pulled by his mother as a form of punishment for disobeying orders.

Everyone in the village was very angry with the two because without realizing it, they could be giving away the location of the hiding place.

Wherever the two looked, the wolves glared at them.

The new Clan now had 44 members, that , 22 more than had survived but part
number was unable to fight if Atora decided to attack with her group of foxes because most were too young and some were not able to fight like the wolf who had his foot crossed by an arrow. toty's uncle planned to one day take revenge on Atora and her group of foxes but that would take time and for now the,y were not prepared.

In the village of Atora, a procession of fox priests arrived, accompanied by some foxes armed with clubs of wood and stone.

The entourage approached Atora who received them cordially.

"Boru," said Atora to the leader of the other clan of foxes

- Atora - said the leader of the other Clan extending his hand to Atora and the two shook hands

"How long has it been," said Atora

- Miss you - said Boru

"It's a pleasure to have you here," Atora said

"Us we thank," said Boru

- We brought several gifts as a form of thanks said Boru

The gifts were mammoth skins , meats and ears of wheat, many ears

Where did you get all those spikes? Ator asked in surprise

I did some trading with some tribes from the south - said Boru

These necklaces are so well made! - said Dyra's mother admiringly

Don't need all that! - said Atora to her cousin

"This is my son's wedding dowry," said Boru

- I forgot to introduce him This one and my son Neru - said Boru introducing his son to his cousin

Neru was a very slender red fox who was dressed in mammoth skin clothing and wore several necklaces made from seashells.

"I didn't recognize him the last time I saw him, he was just a puppy," said Atora.

Where's Dyra? - Neru asked

Dyra ! Shouted the mother calling for her daughter

She's about to show up! - said the mother going to look for her daughter

Dyra was swimming alone in a creek a little away from the village where she lived while a fox from her Clan came to call her

- Dyra ! Dyra! But Dyra didn't answer

Dyra would dive into the water which was crystal clear watching the fish swim in the water

Dyra ! "At last I found you," said the fox named Norar.

What was Norar? - Asked Dyra impatiently

Your mother is looking for you and Neru has arrived - said Norar

"I will not marry Neru," Dyra said to her mother when she arrived at the hut.

"Dyra, you have no choice," said her mother.

Why does it have to be me? - asked Dyra "He's coming," said Norar, whispering

Neru entered the tent where Dyra was inviting her for a walk

Dyra couldn't refuse and had to go along with him. It was an uncomfortable ride in which Neru

kept trying to kiss him and she kept trying to escape him with their parents setting up details of a future wedding.

Meanwhile toty was far away from there lying on a part of the mountain watching the stars

Toty liked to imagine that among that immensity of stars in the sky, one of them was his deceased father.

Toty lying down watching the stars had several flash backs of thoughts and after the father the person that didn't get out of his head was Tina, something was very suspicious with Tina toty had seen spots that seemed to be bruises and the way her husband stared at her.

- It was a mistake that I left, that phrase pronounced by Tina did not get out of Toty's head.

The memory of his father having an arrow through his chest and spitting blood together with him digging his own father's grave with his paws made Toty shed more tears.

Toty didn't notice that Taboo was approaching him

Everything is fine ? Taboo asked

I just want to be alone - said Toty lying on the floor

Don't you feel hungry? - Asked Taboo

I don't want to eat anything - said Toty

- Don't you want to come in? You're out here in this cold and hard ground - Asked Taboo

- I'm a beast like you said so I don't care - said Toty

"I'm sorry I was such a jerk to you," Dyra said, but Toty didn't care.

Toty turned his back and cringed all over

Leave me alone, I want to be alone - said toty

Then I'll go - said Taboo moving away from the wolf

Taboo still came back and left a ham on the ground and wrapped the wolf in a mammoth skin covering
