The group advanced out of the door as they made their way through the hallways, as Marcus and Aurelia walked together near the back of the group
"So if Lin finds me smoking crack running naked through Chinatown" Marcus began thoughtfully
"We're both dead" Aurelia admitted begrudgingly
Marcus wrinkled his brow "Yet here we are breaking rules"
Aurela looked amused at his expression "I have my own rules"
"You sceptics don't deserve the spoils that await" Petra said leaning against the wall as Marcus yet again began to pick another lock "but I'm a generous captain" she finished as the door swung open and the starstruck students walked in
"After you darling" Marcus said as he waited for Aurelia to pass
"Why thank you" Aurelia played along as she took his outstretched hand, walking with him hand in hand into the room
"It's not here" Saya sighed in frustration as she searched for her kitana
"Where else could it be?" Marcus asked as he swung a sword he had found around in his hand, Aurelia had gone to search for her necklace enlisting the help of Chico for he knew of it's importance to her
"It's fine Chico" Aurelia said "Go have fun" she pushed him away as she searched through the piles finally spotting it on a shelf, her eyes glazed over as she recalled memories of her lost family yet she was unable to remember anyone's face but her brother's Hinata "Why can't I remember" Aurelia asked herself frustrated as a solitary tear ran down her cheek. Saya spotted Aurelia crying and walked over to her. Saya remained wordless as she pulled Aurelia into her arms comfortingly stroking her hair.
Marcus pops out from around the corner his smile turning into a frown as he took in the scene before him. Hearing Marcus' footsteps Aurelia wiped the tears off her face before straightening up "What?" she asked frustration evident in her voice
"Just doesn't seem like you're having much fun" Marcus shrugged
Aurelia indicated for Saya to leave before beckoning Marcus closer resting her head on his shoulder as he sat down on the table next to her "I can't remember my family Marcus, what kind of a daughter or sister am I?"
Marcus sighed putting an arm around her waist pulling her closer "Things always work out"
Aurelia looked at him sceptically "Vietnam, cancer kids, Sunny and Cher and weren't you homeless?" she stated in monotone
"Yeah, it's just something my dad used to say, it's not uh 100% I guess" Marcus said "it's probably closer to 10"
Aurelia's eyes soften upon hearing the memories that Marcus had of his father "I wish I could remember things my father said" she whispered a silent tear trickled down her cheek
Marcus brushed the tear off her face softly with his thumb "I promise you, one day when we get out of here, I'll help you look for them"
Aurelia smiled her eyes still brimming with tears "Promise me?"
"I promise" Marcus said his hands coming up to cup her face
Aurelia looked up at him and smiled, the sight warmed Marcus' heart, for she was the girl that he would risk everything for. He thought as he leaned closer their lips brushing slightly
"Aurelia?" Saya called as she rounded the corner as the two sprung apart abruptly
"Hey, Saya" Aurelia exclaimed plastering a smile on her face "Any luck finding your kitana?"
"No it's not here" Saya sighed exasperatedly "If I lose my kitana my life is over"
Marcus shrugged "What could happen? Maybe Lin's pawning it, it'll show up" he said his arm still coiled around Aurelia's waist
"Misery loves company" Aurelia spoke thoughtfully
"But the lesser known second verse is, Company doesn't much care for misery" Marcus finished for her, Marcus jumped up squeezing Aurelia's hand reassuringly before sitting down on a motorcycle wheeling it backwards "It's a little smaller than yours, but its guaranteed, to uh cheer you up" he suggested smiling goofily at her
Aurelia watched her sister's face knowing Marcus' antics the older Kuroki sister's face slowly melted into a smile
The students set up a ramp for Saya to jump as she donned her makeshift helmet and began to rev the bike
"100 bucks says she doesn't make it" Chico chimed in watching
"You're on" Aurelia smiled shaking his hand as they watched Saya begin to ride the bike up the ramp
Spoiler alert. She made it.
"You owe me now hermano" Aurelia teased Chico as he rolled his eyes, Marcus watched relieved that her mood changed as she smiled
"Well that was fun" Saya said taking off her helmet "Can we make it bigger?" the students only exchanged glances grinning at each other
Chico had managed to turn a tape on and Aurelia nodded her head along to it appreciatively "This is my little bro's favourite album" he smiled as Aurelia rested a hand on his shoulder comfortingly
"He's got good taste" Marcus complimented from where he was leaning against the wall
Chico paused "He had good taste"
"I didn't know" Marcus responded quietly
"Why would you?" he turned to Marcus "We don't even live on the same planet"
"We've all lost people" Marcus countered
"Chico" Aurelia said softly trying to soothe him before they were interrupted by the sound of an engine revving
"Dude you're gonna break your neck" Marcus yelled
The legacy just shook his head still smiling as he began to count down with his fingers "Three, two, o-" the legacy screamed as he fell to the floor clutching the stub that used to bear his hand as two masked figures stepped out from behind them
