Ch.6

Rosé POV

I wake up early as usual and take a shower to wake up. Today is finally Friday. I made it through the first week and if I don't make any mistakes by next Friday, I might be able to stay at the company. My biggest problem is not being able to face Jennie. Seriously, she's my boss, but I'm feeling a little afraid of her.

I finish getting ready and walk to the company. It's still early and there's hardly anyone on the street. It's quite pleasant to walk at this time of day. Almost half an hour later, I arrive at the company and go straight to the top floor where I work and go to my desk. My parents have been calling me these days, but I don't answer, I just ignore them. I don't even have the courage to do so.

I hear the elevator opening and I get up.

— Good morning, Miss Kim — I say looking at her.

— Good morning, Roseanne, bring me a coffee — He says and I just say

I make her coffee as quickly as possible and walk to her office, take a deep breath and knock on the door.

— Come in — I hear his voice and obey, entering his room and walking to his desk.

— Here you are, miss, anything else? — I ask and she takes a deep breath and looks at me.

— I shouldn't have yelled at you yesterday, I'm sorry, but you're not helping yourself either, Roseanne — He says and I look away

— I.. I'm trying — I say feeling my heart race again

— I know — She says and takes another deep breath, she was controlling herself so as not to lose control again, I imagine — Your test will last another week — That's all she says and I just nod and leave the room

Jennie is clearly not very good at apologizing, but she tried, maybe that was enough. The morning passed calmly, Jennie ordered coffee just once more and said that I had changed the dates of some meetings and told me to fix it, she said this as calmly as possible.

— Hi Rosie — Jisoo says as soon as the elevator opens

— Hi Jisoo — I say smiling

— It's just that I didn't get your number and I came to get it, I think we could go out for a walk a little over the weekend, what do you think?

— I think it's great — I say, eating my lunch — Do you want it?

— No, thank you — She says smiling — Did she do anything else?

— She apologized — I say

— At least that, but I'm almost absolutely sure that Lisa told her to do it — He says

— At least it's something — I say and she shrugs, the elevator opens once more, now revealing Lisa

— Good afternoon, Rosé — She speaks so nicely as always, it’s hard to believe she’s friends with Jennie

— Good afternoon, Miss Manoban — I say

— Did Jennie eat anything?

— Yes — I lie, she seems suspicious, but doesn't say anything and soon enters Jennie's room.

It's so weird that I have to lie about this and even weirder that Jennie only asks for coffee, never any food or water.

— Write down your number — Jisoo says, handing me the cell phone and I do so — Thank you, now I have to go back, stop by before you leave

— Okay — I say and nod.

The truth is that Jisoo is really nice, we talked a lot on the way home yesterday, she also doesn't have many friends and we like similar things, she is very kind and talking to someone really helped me.

The afternoon was peaceful, there wasn't much to do, except for the blessed calls, I was already tired of the ringing of that phone.

Work hours were over and I was about to leave when my cell phone rang. It was my mother's number. She's called me more than 100 times in the last week. I sighed and decided to answer the phone.

- Where are you, Park Roseanne? - I hear her furious voice - Come home immediately

- I'm already 19 years old, mom, I have the right to live my life, I don't need anyone to control me - I say

- I'm your mother, I just want to see when you have no more money, you'll come running back - He says

- I'm not going back, mom, never - I say and hear her get furious - You can't control me my whole life and doing this won't make me stop liking women - I say and hang up with tears in my eyes

- Are you okay? - I hear Jennie's voice next to me - I was leaving the room and heard almost everything

- Okay - I say and call the elevator, when it opens I enter silently with Jennie next to me, she stared at me

- Are you sure you're okay? - He asks and I feel tears running down my face and I start to cry silently without answering.

The elevator stops downstairs, probably because of Lisa and Jisoo but I don't lift my head to look.

- What happened? - I hear Jisoo's voice, but I can't answer.

- She spoke to her mother on the phone - Jennie says and Jisoo hugs me

- I'm here with you - He says softly

Jisoo took me home even though it was far from hers, she said I was too spaced out to walk down the street alone. I probably cried myself to sleep, I loved my parents very much and before the incident at school I thought they would accept me but they started treating me as if I wasn't me and that hurt me a lot. I couldn't stand another minute in that house, so I ran away and nothing would make me go back.
