Jennie POV

I wake up early and do my routine, going for a walk with Lisa and getting another scolding from her for not eating properly, she's always going to be on my case. I go to work early, Roseanne was already there, she seemed better, I wanted to ask, but I decided to keep quiet.

I start looking at some contracts while I drink my coffee. I spend at least two hours reading until I get tired and start staring at the view behind me, the back wall was just glass giving me a beautiful view, I stand there looking while I finish drinking my second cup of coffee.

— Kim Jennie — I hear my door suddenly open and I turn around to see my mother — What's this story about not going to dinner on Friday?

Was she so mad that she would drive across town just to yell at me?

— Good morning, mom — I say and see Rose go to the door and close it, staying outside.

— Answer me, Jennie

— I don't want to go, mom. That's all.

— It's your brother's engagement

— My brother who betrayed my trust and his fiancée who was my girlfriend until I caught them having sex — I say practically shouting

— Despite everything, we are a family, Jennie.

— He didn't remember that while he was having sex with my girlfriend

— Are you going to this dinner?

— I don't want to go, I don't feel comfortable — I say and she opens the door, I thought she was going to leave, but no

— Honey, come here — He says, calling Roseanne who comes over a little nervously, probably wondering why they were involving her in this and I'm asking myself the same question — It's Roseanne, isn't it?

— You can just call me Rosé, Ashley — He says.

— I'm sure you heard our screams, in Jennie's place what would you do? — he asks and I see Roseanne enter an internal conflict looking at me and my mother several times — Don't worry, dear. Just answer

— Well, if Miss Kim doesn't go, I think it will make the bride and groom feel smug and think they still have an effect on her, without wanting to offend your family, Mrs. Kim, but I don't think anyone would do something like that to their own sister without meaning to, I think it was intentional.

— At least one of your opinions is relevant — I say and she looks at me

— But I think Miss Kim shouldn't give them that pleasure and should go to dinner and show that she isn't affected by it, because she is much more than a past trauma — She says, leaving me surprised, I don't show it but I was. After the comment I made I expected an insult back but she was really serious.

— I agree, dear — My mother tells her and then looks at me — So, Jennie?

— I don't have to prove anything to anyone — I say

— So you're a coward who can't face her own past? — Roseanne says and I put the cup down on the table with force

— I'm your boss Roseanne, respect me, you've only been here a week and you don't even have experience, I can very well fire you — I say practically shouting

— In a week, you've gotten to know me well enough to know that I generally don't take any nonsense and I say what I think and I'm not going to change — He says challenging me and I see my mother smile.

— That's exactly who my daughter needs, and you Jennie Kim, don't you dare fire Rosé — My mother says and I roll my eyes — And you, my dear, are invited to dinner, Jennie will take you as a date, I think you two should get to know each other better. My daughter needs someone like you — She says smiling and I see my mother's intentions

— Mrs. Kim — Roseanne begins but my mother interrupts her

— Don't deny it, dear, I'll be upset if you don't go and I already told you to just call me Ashley — he says and leaves.

— Congratulations, now not only do I have to go, but you too — I say to Roseanne after my mother leaves.

— I only told the truth — She says and leaves the room stressed.

— I want a coffee — I say and she comes back taking my cup and leaving again

I stare at the view again trying to calm myself down and soon I hear Roseanne's heels and she comes to me handing me the coffee.

— If you want to calm down you should have some tea — He says

— You can go — I say as I take the cup.

— The meeting is in 10 minutes — He says and I sigh, I didn't even notice the time passing

— Okay — I say and she leaves.

The meeting went well I think, I didn't pay attention to anything and then Lisa came to my office.

— Hi Rose — Hi

— Hi Miss Manoban — Roseanne says and we enter my room

— Why are you so absent-minded today? — Lisa asks me and I explain everything to her about dinner and Roseanne — I also think you should go

— I'll have to go with Roseanne — I say

— Even better, she's really hot — Lisa says

— And do you think I'm blind? I try to get these thoughts out of my head here at work, but imagine at a dinner at my parents' house. She'll be my date, we'll be together all the time. — I say, and Lisa gives a naughty smile. — You know I don't get involved with people from work.

— Well, just go to dinner and don't show that you're upset because of those two idiots — She says and I agree — After all, it's just dinner, what could go wrong?
