Jennie POV
Almost everyone had already left, there were less than 10 people left.
—Jennie, mom is calling you to the office — Benjamin says, I look at Rosé who was on the other side of the room talking to some of my relatives, she would be fine in a few minutes alone, so I walk to the office.
When I got there, Mom wasn't there. After 10 minutes, I started to think it was strange, until I heard Rosé scream from the garden. I ran out of the office and went to the door, but the few relatives who were still here had gathered at the door. Without caring, I pushed them aside and saw that the sprinklers were on. Rosé had slipped on the grass and fallen.
I look at Chloe who is laughing out loud and my brother gives me a smile, it was definitely on purpose, I run and turn off the sprinklers and go to Rosé helping her to get up.
— Are you okay?— I ask and she nods.
— Chloe said you were waiting for me in the garden — She says
— And my brother told me that my mother was waiting for me in the office - I sigh and see her tremble a little - I'll take care of them later, let's go in
We walked over to where my few relatives were, Rosé looked a little embarrassed, but they were worried about her and judging the bride and groom with their eyes, everyone knew it had been a provocation.
My mother comes towards us with a towel, I grab it and wrap it around Rosé and pull her into the house and we start climbing the stairs.
— I'm getting everything wet — He says
— Don't worry — I say and go up to my old room
— Wow posters on the wall — He says smiling and I laugh
— Go take a hot shower, the closet is over there, these clothes should fit, even though they're a bit old, I haven't worn them since I was 19 — I say
— How old are you? — He asks.
— 24 — I say and she agrees — I'll wait for you downstairs, take as long as you need
— Don't do anything to them, Jennie. You'll just give them what they want.
— I think you still haven't learned that I don't listen to your advice — I say and leave.
I go downstairs and see my mother, my brother and Chloe in the living room, probably the remaining relatives have left.
— How old are you? 12? — I ask — I came to your dinner even after everything that happened, I didn't do anything provocative and yet you tried to humiliate Rosé. She has nothing to do with this
— Didn't you have fun, little sister?— Benjamin asks
— That's enough — My mother says — Benjamin and Chloe are going to your house now
— Are you kicking me out of my house? — Benjamin asks
— No, I'm kicking you out of my house, you haven't lived here for a long time — Mom says and they leave angrily — And Rose?
— She's taking a shower, she should come down soon — I say and she agrees.
— Sorry — Mom says
— It's okay, she didn't get hurt and you were right, it was more than time to face my past — I say and she smiles
— What were you doing in the garden at dinner time?
— Just talking — I say and she looks at me suspiciously — We've known each other for a week, mom.
— I kissed your father just a few hours after I met him — He says and I laugh
— My father didn't work for you — I say
— Why would Rose working with you be a problem?
— Because mixing work and love life doesn’t always work out
— And it doesn't always go wrong — He says — If she wasn't your secretary, you would have already hit on her, right?
— Yes —I admit
— You should take advantage, she's a great girl — He says
— Rosé is 19, Mom, maybe she wants someone younger
— 4 years isn't much, Jen — Mom says smiling
— I'm just going to let things happen — I say
— Don't deprive yourself of new opportunities, work isn't everything, my dear — He says and I hear my bedroom door open and then close and soon footsteps on the stairs. Mom smiles at me and goes to Rose who was absolutely beautiful, wearing a dress that was mine.
— My dear, I'm sorry for what happened.
— Don't worry, Ashley — She says — I'm fine, just a little tired
— Bye mom — I say, going to her and hugging her.
— Bye my daughter — Speak
She hugs Rosé too and then we both go to the car.
— Are you really okay? — I ask, starting to drive.
— I feel like giving that woman a good slap, but yes — He says and I laugh
— You look beautiful in those clothes — I say
— I really liked it — Say — I'll give it back to you on Monday
— If you liked it, you shouldn't return it, I haven't used it in years, it doesn't even fit me anymore — I say — If you want, you can keep it
- Thank you - Speak
The rest of the way was smooth, although I couldn't stop thinking about how beautiful she was, that dress with the slit looked totally perfect on her and this one of mine too, but it's really short because of her, I try to get those thoughts out of my head and keep driving. There was no traffic due to the time, we arrived at her house quickly.
— Thank you for everything Jennie
— Thank you — I say and turn to her, but she turns to me at the same time and we end up giving a little kiss, she quickly moves away, blushing.
— Sorry, I was going to kiss your cheek — She says and I just laugh at how desperate she was
— Don't worry, it was just a little kiss — I say and she nods blushing — Good night
Good evening — He says smiling and gets out of the car.
I drive back to my house now, I bite my lip wanting to feel hers next to mine once more.
To be continued.
