Clove's Pov

It's now the day of the bride and groom's dinner, just one night before the wedding. Evie and I were getting ready in our room, putting on the dresses Walt had given us. Although this place feels wrong, and I can't shake the feeling that Walt might be something more sinister than he seems, he's been nothing but sweet to us, spoiling us with gifts and having a great sense of fashion.

Evie's dress was a stunning red gown, with a puffy skirt that flared out around her, that fitted perfectly to highlight her figure. It had delicate lace detailing along the neckline adding a touch of elegance to the bold color. She looked like she'd stepped straight out of a fairytale. The mask she had also completed her outfit well

My dress was the opposite sleek and dark. The black fabric hugged my body in all the right places, with sheer ruffles at the top that added a touch of softness to the otherwise daring look. I spent some time curling my long brown hair, letting the loose waves cascade over my shoulders. I added a few pieces of jewelry, nothing too flashy, just enough to catch the light.
The mask he picked out for me was also black and quite matched my dress with the sheer lace hanging from the top

"Wow, we look amazing," Evie said, her eyes wide as we both admired our reflections in the mirror.

"Definitely," I agreed, though my mind was elsewhere. Part of me couldn't help but hope that Walt wasn't what we feared he might be. "Now let's get this over with," I said, taking Evie's hand as we walked out of the room and headed toward the dining area.

As we stepped into the room, all the families were seated across from each other, and an array of food was spread out before us. I had never seen so much food in one place.

Everyone was silent, their faces obscured by masks. The atmosphere felt eerie, but I tried to brush off the uneasy feeling as Walter stood up and smiled at us. "Ahh, there they are," he said, his voice warm as all eyes turned to Evie and me. We walked to the open seats, trying to ignore the weight of so many gazes on us.
