The halls just outside Professor Hecat's Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom were bursting with nervous activity.

Her sixth-year N.E.W.T.S. students were clutching tomes and notes to their chests, wide-eyed and endlessly muttering the lesson material under their breaths. Professor Hecat's students may have loved her hands-on lessons, but the DADA written exams were borderline traumatizing.

Allegra was furiously trying to memorize the advanced curses and their counters. She gripped tightly onto Ominis' arm. Although he looked perfectly calm, the Slytherin boy had been reading the same section of notes for the last twenty minutes.

And Sebastian, exempted from all of his sixth-year exams for his victory, refused to stop gloating.

"You sure that's right?" he teased, sitting in front of Ominis and Allegra. "Is that the counter-curse for the Tongue-Tying Jinx?"

Allegra, who had been enduring his taunting for the last five minutes, finally snapped and hit Sebastian over the head with her book. "If you're not going to be helpful or quiet, Bastian," she hissed, "leave!"

"He's only here to rub his exemption in our faces," Ominis grumbled.

"I'm only trying to help you out," Sebastian said innocently. "How's that paragraph looking, Ominis? Have you finally figured out what it says?"

A pair of books hit him on the head. Sebastian laughed.

"I say this with love, Sebastian," Ominis spat, "But I need you to go away."

And he did, finally letting up on his already-stressed friends. Sebastian took advantage of his sudden freedom and spare time. He checked on his Gringotts vault, which was now a thousand Galleons richer, and met with a squeaky-voiced Goblin to make his first investment. There, Sebastian thought to himself. He'd listened to Ominis and made a good financial decision.

And now he was going to listen to himself. Pockets jingling with coins, Sebastian sped into Diagon Alley and spoiled himself—and his friends—with some retail therapy.

Allegra and Ominis lay sprawled on the plush carpets of the Room of Requirement. They'd had the grueling Defense exam. That was followed by their advanced Potions, which drained every last bit of Ominis' energy. Allegra had her Charms test. Ominis had Divination. By the time they met up in the Room, both of them were too exhausted to even make it to bed.

"My brain is fuzzy," Allegra said tiredly. "Merlin, Ominis. Those were only our regular exams. What are our seventh-year N.E.W.T.S. going to be like?'

"Let's not look that far ahead, please," Ominis mumbled. "I don't want to imagine."

Allegra laughed. A moment later, he felt her head resting on his chest. Ominis sat up. Slinging an arm under her thighs, he carried the squealing Allegra to her bed, pulling her to him in a tight embrace. He settled into the softness of her chest, smiling contentedly.

"So let's talk about the near future, then," Allegra said, fingers working through his hair. "What are we going to do for the summer?"

"What would you like to do?"

"There's going to be a concert back at home," Allegra said shyly. "I signed up to play."

"I'll be there," Ominis promised. "What else?"

"Well, I don't know. That was the extent of my itinerary. Maybe I could give you a proper tour, show you all of my old haunts as a girl."

"I'd like that, Allegra."
