Anyone But You~

As the next day arrives, the party from the previous evening is a distant memory. Daniel wakes up in the morning and gets ready for the day, still thinking about Hazel and the incident at the pool. He decides to check on her, wondering how she's feeling after the cold dip in the pool. Daniel exits his room and heads downstairs towards the kitchen. He sees her working alone then approaches her. 

Daniel: "Hey!" 

She turns around and passes him a smile. 

Hazel: "Good morning, sir" 

Daniel: "Morning! are you okay? did you catch cold?" 

Hazel: "No I-I'm fine! lot better than yesterday" 

Daniel's relief shows on his face as Hazel assures him that she's feeling better. He lets out a sigh, his worry for her easing a bit.

Daniel: "Good, I'm glad to hear that. You had me worried last night. You were shaking pretty badly when I took you out of the pool." 

Hazel smiles weakly, still recovering from the cold she'd endured last night. 

Hazel: "I think I'm going to be sore for a few days,"  

she admits, her voice sounding a bit hoarse.

Hazel: "But overall, I'm feeling a lot better. Thanks for taking care of me last night."

He smiles softly at her still feeling pretty bad for her. 

Daniel: "I'll get you some medicine when I come back in the evening" 

Her heart swells at his care for her. No one has ever cared for me this way after my grandmother she thought to herself. 

Hazel: "Thank you" 

Daniel: "Your welcome" 

Later as usual she's makes breakfast and serves it on the table. Daniel eats his food and leaves for office not before looking back to see her face for the last time before he leaves for work. He sees her smiling while speaking to Lilly. His heart did a flip seeing her beautiful face. He sighs to himself before sitting in the car and driving off. 

LATER IN THE EVENING: 

Hazels Pov: 

I was done making dinner and talking with Lilly in the kitchen that's when my phone began ringing, I looked at the caller id it was my neighbor. I frowned my eyebrows wondering why she's calling me. I picked up. 

Hazel: "Hey! what's up?" 

??: "Hazel I'm sorry to say this but...your grandmother has passed away" 

I felt my heart sink in my stomach. My hands and feet turned cold hearing that. 

Hazel: "W-what?" 

??: "Yeah, please come home quick" 

Hazel: "I-I... I'm coming" 

My eyes filled with tears. Lilly panicked seeing me like this. 

Lilly: "Hey what happened? are you okay?" 

Hazel: "I-I ne-need to go" 

I ran out of the kitchen to the door. I exited the mansion with tears running down my eyes. It was so dark outside with rain falling heavily. I looked for a bus or taxi but to my luck nothing could be seen. I thought of walking till my house. I crossed the street that's when a car came my way I fell on my knees, but I wasn't hurt. A tall man came out of the car I looked up to see Daniel. 

Daniels Pov: 

It was raining quiet heavily. I brought Hazel's medicine and sat in the car to drive home. I wanted to see her so badly I don't know why but my heart craved her badly. I drive speedily as the roads were empty, I saw a girl running across the street I quickly pressed the break. 

Daniel: "Fuck" 

I came out of my car to see a girl on the ground fully drenched in rain. She looked up and my eyes widen when I saw how it is. It is Hazel. 

Daniel: "Hazel! what are you doing here? is everything okay?" 

I quickly sat on my knees bringing her close to me. She sobbed uncontrollably. 

Hazel: "I-I need to get h-home...m-my grandmother passed away" 

The news about her grandmother hits me unexpectedly.  

Hazel: "Take me home please" 

She cried her eyes were slightly red. I nodded I picked her up and made her sit inside the car before going to my seat I removed my coat and covered her with it. I sat in my seat and took her home. I looked at her time to time while driving. The way she was crying tore my heart apart. I hated seeing her cry. In a while we reached, and she quickly got down going inside. Few people were standing outside her house. She pushed everyone and went in I followed her from behind. 

Hazels Pov: 

I saw my grandmother laying on the bed with her eyes closed her pale face made me fall on my knees near her. I held her hand in mine and cried. why did she had to leave me so soon? I have no one now whom I can call my family! I lost my everything! 

Hazel: "How did it happen?" 

??: "I don't know I came to give you some food I knocked on the door, but no one was opening I opened it with the spare eyes and saw her lying I called her out, but she didn't respond I called you immediately after" 

Doctor: "Miss I checked onto her...It's a Nocturnal death" 

{Dying in your sleep, also known as nocturnal death, is most often associated with sudden and the progressive loss of heart function associated with (CHF)} 

??: "You should start the funeral preparations dear" 

I nodded while crying. Daniel payed for the whole funeral. I don't know how I can pay him back. I stood there crying while few people were burying her. I broke down in tears I felt him pulling me into his arms. I clutched onto his shirt and cried my heart out. 

Daniel: "Shh...it's okay"
