The next moment I woke up from my peaceful slumber, I felt my body straight burning hot and I thought, that it was due to Tails holding me in his arms for the entire time and thus keeping me warm. But after a while I realised, that I was laying on the ground of the forest and the sky was slowly darkening, which meant, that it was now around evening hours. I slowly sat up and man, my head was so dizzy, that I had to instantly lay back down while placing my hand on my forehead, which felt like the sun itself. What is going on with me?! No, no... don't tell me I am sick right now! Good thing, that the vampire king made the area safe for me and Tails, so we won't be bothered by any kind of threat. I looked tiredly around and hugged myself, as I felt cold and started shivering in contrast to my burning body.
"T-Tails!" I tried to weakly call out to my brother while curling up on the ground and the night cool air wasn't really helping anything right now.
"Yes, I am here, Sonic, I hunted some- Gaia, Sonic!" I heard his voice speaking up after a while and he probably dropped something on the ground, regarding the little thud I heard, before he appeared in my vision range and lifted me up to his comfortable warm arms. I instantly leaned into his fluffy fur and held onto it tightly while shivering in his embrace.
"You have a fever again!" he exclaimed and I folded my ears down due to my senses being more sensitive during the sickness.
"Haven't had that f-for a while, huh?" I softly chuckled and he started taking me somewhere.
"Let me take care of you," he replied calmly while carrying me for the whole time.
"W-Wait... y-you can take me to the m-mansion... I owe Terios an apology anyways," I suggested, when I now recalled the secretly kind-hearted vampire, who was even willing to hear me out, when I needed it the most. But I pushed him away like that and as the many hours passed by, I started feeling guilty and wanted to make up for it. Not to mention, that I was now addicted to his scent and wanted to keep smelling it. I will never admit that to Tails!

"But I don't know which way," Tails retorted, as he stopped moving and looked down at me.
"F-Follow the scent, bro," I weakly smiled at him and he sighed in response.
"Alright," he nodded and sniffing around he caught up on the scent, which was repulsive for him, but alluring for me. The further he moved, the stronger the scent was growing and what felt like eternity later we finally found ourselves in front of the mansion.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" he asked me doubtfully and I nodded, feeling confident about it.
"Do it, bro, for me, please. I'll be alright," I replied quietly, whilst my breathing pattern became heavier.
"Okay," Tails nodded in response and knocked on the front door, then waited for the vampire to open up. It took a while, before we finally heard some rustling noise behind the door, which then got open wide and the vampire himself stood there in the doorway. Terios first looked at me in Tails' arms, then at my bro.
"I assume you're Tails?" he said calmly in questioning tone.
"That I am, sir," Tails confirmed and tried to be polite.
"What happened to him?" the vampire asked while pointing at me and coming closer to examine my condition. For once, his cold hand felt good against my hot forehead.
"He has a fever and told me to bring him here, sir," Tails replied truthfully and I could feel his fast heartbeat. He was surely nervous to talk to the vampire.

The vampire stared at me for a while, before his eyes darkened a little and a small sigh escaped his lips, as he removed his hand from my forehead.
"Come in," he said shortly and disappeared inside the building while leaving the door open for us to enter.
"He... is inviting us?" Tails whispered while looking down at me.
"Obviously," I raised an eyebrow and halflidded my eyes. Not even sickness can stop my sass.
"Fascinating," Tails stated almost breathlessly and finally entered the mansion while closing the door behind us.
"Over here!" Terios stood by a door located next to the kitchen and invited us over there, so Tails carried me towards that room, which seemed to be probably another guest room. He laid me on the soft bed and I let out a small sigh of relief. Terios brought a cool rag and gently placed it on my forehead before taking a glass of water and some kind of candy. Tails stood aside and just awkwardly watched the vampire taking care of me.
"Here, take this and swallow it properly with the water," Terios ordered and I carefully sat up while leaning against the big pillow. I cautiously took the glass with the candy and examined it from upclose. It was purely soft pink, oval shaped pill.
"What is it, your majesty?" I looked up at the vampire, who sat on the edge of the bed and remained quiet until he'd be spoken to.
"It's a medicine for you, it should help you fight off the fever," he explained shortly and I glanced at the medicine one more time before shrugging and shoving it to my mouth. I made sure to gulp it down thoroughly while emptying the glass, which I then returned to him and gladly laid down on the bed. The medicine tasted surprisingly sweet though, like some fruits.
