"Aren't you going to wear it, your majesty?" I asked my companion while placing my given flower crown proudly on my head and luckily it sat perfectly there with my pointy ears securing it on spot, so it wouldn't fall off.
"I am a vampire king, Sonic, not a fairy," Terios replied in an unamused tone while just gripping the flower crown in his hand for the whole time. We walked through the forest and made sure to avoid the areas, where the wild rogue vampires usually camped. Despite the hunters doing their job, there were still a lot of those rogues. I consider maybe joining them too and at least reuniting with Amy, as it's been so long I have seen her for the last time in my life.
"Not what I said. I mean, see? It doesn't look so bad," I moved to walk backwards in front of him and saw him roll his eyes in response, as he just kept walking. I looked at him from head to toe and flopped one ear lower while tilting my head a bit in curiousness.
"Your majesty, what is your trick of staying outside for so long without any trouble?" I asked a little personal question and decided to just walk normally next to him afterwards, as I did not wish to get potentially threatened by the tail stinger again due to provoking the vampire too much.
"If you really must know...," he trailed off and rolled one sleeve of his dark shirt up, revealing a golden ring, which sat on his wrist.
"Huh? What is it?"
"Silver calls this a 'Solar Ring', it collects the solar energy from the sun and transfers it to my body, making it more heavy-duty, resistant and tireless," he explained some science stuff to me and despite me not being such a tech brain, I still understood, what he means by that."So, it basicaly protects you from the sunlight," I stated simply and heard him sigh, whilst he hid the ring under his sleeve again.
"Basicaly, yes," he confirmed and I was amazed once again.
"Wait, you said Silver? Is this made by him?" I perked my ears up.
"Precisely. He created a pair of these rings for vampires in general - when he was alive, that is. He was able to learn some basic magic spells and this was one of them. The first time he gave them to me was the day, when I worked in the garden during the daytime and got so exhausted, that I fainted on spot. The next moment I woke up, I noticed these rings on my wrists and Silver explained their meaning to me. Since then, I used them only about twice, because it is not recommended to overuse them. They need to recharge after every use," he elaborated and I dropped my jaw a little in pure awe. That was really something special.
"What happens, if you do overuse them?" I asked curiously while looking at him and deep within actually grinning for myself, because I got a mischievous idea, but waited for the conversation to be over, first.
"The spell would simply stop working and some complications might occur. Like, ironicaly enough, I might suffer from exhaustion or feel some pain," the vampire shrugged while watching the path ahead of us. We finally approached the Midnight Meadow, the same meadow I had to run across that fateful night, when Zero chased me around.
"I see. How do you know, if you wear them for too long?" I asked another question, being really a lot curious."I would definitely feel it, Sonic, you can be sure of that. I am fine so far, let's keep going," he assured me and I then snatched the flower crown from his hand while quickly placing it on top of his head.
"Wha-HEY! Sonic, what are you doing?!" he obviously panicked and I started running right before he yelled those words.
"Hahaha, catch me if you can, your majesty!" I speeded off through the meadow and registered him running after me.
"Come back here!" he yelled behind me and caught up on me fast, so I switched to my super speed and ran across the open space of the meadow with Terios still right behind my heels.
"The crown fits you, your majesty! Since you are always so dark, the colors of the flowers light you up a bit!" I both taunted and complimented him and let him decide, how he takes it. He remained quiet, so I checked up on him out of worry, but he wasn't there! Returning my gaze in front of me, I could see him standing in a fair distance ahead of me and I skidded to a halt as soon as I could. Despite that, my reaction was still too slow and I collided with his cold body, making us roll around the grassy surface of the meadow and getting to the outskirts of the forest we ended up laying in a tree shade. I laid on top of him and supporting myself with my arms I hovered my upper body half above him while feeling my face rapidly heat up upon the realization of our position. We locked gazes with each other and his eyes widened, whilst his breathing pattern became a bit fitful. My heart pounded rapidly against my rib cage and I found myself unable to move at all. I completely froze while basicaly pinning him to the ground, unintentionally, of course.
