Upon arrival in front of the entrance leading to the king's room, I noticed the door slightly ajar, most likely inviting me in. Lifting my hand I placed it on the majestic wood the door was made of and gently applied pressure to open it a little wider.
"No need to hesitate, just come in, Sonic," I heard the vampire's voice echoing through the room and reaching my eardrums. I did as he told me and respectfully closed the door after myself. Terios stood by the wall with the framed picture of Maria hanging on it and looked at me over his shoulder.
"I have been thinking for some time until now," he started mysteriously and returning his gaze to the picture he softly sighed. I felt my body tensing up in anticipation, for it was slowly getting uncomfortable to me.
"About what, your majesty?" I carefully asked while tilting my head to a side, both curious and nervous at the same time. If not even slightly scared.
"It is always so hard for me to talk about... what I am going to tell you," the vampire lifted his hand and pressing his index finger against the frame he gently traced the ornaments decorating the frame with it. Was he... nervous too? He seemed shy in my eyes.
"But... I feel like there is no way back out of it now," he continued and took a deep breath.

"Guess there isn't, since I am already here with you, your majesty," I casually confirmed while now holding my hands together and lightly bouncing on my feet upon the impatience taking over me.
"I am proposing a deep and heartfelt relationship to you, Sonic," his words struck me like a lightning out of the blue sky and I completely froze in utter shock and surprise. Did I hear correctly? I felt an urge to check my ear cannals to find out, if I actually hear well. Did he just... confess his love to me?!
"I know, that it's probably sudden, but..." he continued, when I remained silent and lowering his head he finally let the frame be, as he crossed his arms and turned his back towards me.
"Apologies, I just... I don't know what came to me," he muttered barely audible, but it nicely tested my sensitive ears and I found out, that I can hear VERY well and clear. The spiral of various thoughts rotated in my mind like a wild tornado and even caused a slight headache, which made me almost groan in displeasure, as I placed my hand on my forehead to hopefully ease the pain a bit.
"Nevermind, forget it," he scoffed and hanging his arms by his sides he clenched his hands into a fists.

That finally snapped me out of my thoughts and slowly approaching him from behind I rested my hand on his shoulder.
"Sonic? Are you... mad?" he asked me in a confused tone.
"No, just really surprised, as I didn't expect such a bold move from you," I admitted, whilst my cheeks heated up a bit. I still couldn't believe, that he confessed his feelings to me.
"I believe so. I am truly sorry, if it was too rushed, or-"
"Your majesty," I called him by the respective title once more and thus silenced him.
"I am not gonna be mad over a fact, that you just confessed your feelings to me, it is natural and... in a way, I really care about you and your well-being," I tried to comfort him while actually contemplating it in my mind.

"Do you mean it?" he asked in a bit doubtful tone while turning around to face me and I couldn't really blame him after all he has been through.
"Of course! I mean... I s-saved your life, right? Hehe," I rubbed my quills and lowered my head upon the shyness taking over me.
"That you did and I owe you a debt of gratitude for it, forever," he replied very politely and moving his hand under my chin he lifted my head a bit to make me look up at him again.
"I am not going to force you into anything, that does not align with you, Sonic, I can promise you that," he continued, whilst my heart picked up the pace and banged against my rib cage upon the sight before me. His mesmerizing crimson stripes so perfectly complimenting his dark fur. His usually so calm and collected amber eyes, which quite literally possessed some kind of magic beyond the dark pupils.
"I-I.." I wanted to say something, anything! But instead I looked like an oversized furry blue fish trying to catch some breath on the land, for I could only open and close my mouth multiple times, unable to get a single syllable out of my throat.
