Joshua and Jeonghan have been best friends since childhood, they know each other better than anyone and some are even jealous of the chemistry that emanates from their duo, at first the two boys felt relatively embarrassed to see how much their friendship was loved but now when they walk the halls of their schools and hear whispers about them they don't care, it's really become a habit for them to be the center of attention so they don't even care anymore.

While everything was going well between the two boys, a trial came knocking at the bosom of their friendship. It didn't happen between them, but they both experienced a painful love break-up at the same time, and it's crazy for them to think that they got together as a couple at the same time and were dumped on the same day too. Nevertheless, the two friends reacted very differently to their break-up. Joshua became cold and distant with everyone, even Jeonghan. Whereas the blond became sullen, sad and a shadow of his former self.

Even if their characters have changed, they continue to stay together, though of course the discussions are much less present than before, staying together is not at all like it used to be, nevertheless their friendship hasn't stopped, nothing has ended between them so they don't need to stop being together, they just need to learn to go back to the way they used to be. Even if they know that nothing will ever be the same again, and for good reason.

" Shua, she was my future. "

Joshua sighs as he hears this phrase, lightly taking Jeonghan's head and making the blond rest it on his shoulder as the elder understands, he lets himself do so, and once his head is in the right place, he closes his eyes and feels his friend's hand on his back, and that's when they hear things.

" I wonder how they ever thought we were dating."

" Han..."

Jeonghan blinks, it's been so long since he's heard that nickname and especially the younger man's voice that he's surprised, he looks slightly towards Joshua and the latter has a clenched jaw and a look filled with hatred.

" I'm sorry."

" It's been months now. "

" I should move on I know."

" Everyone needs a different amount of time before they can move on."

" She got a hold on me like a phyton..."

" I know you were attached to her more than anything else in the world, but don't compare her to a python because that animal isn't harmful to humans, she was toxic to you Jeonghan ah."

" It's good to hear you talking like that again. That boy destroyed you just as much as that girl destroyed me."

" He didn't destroy me, he just reduced to dust all the trust I could place in human beings. The only human who still has my complete trust is you."

To back up his words, Joshua comes over and lightly touches the tip of Jeonghan's nose and Jeonghan giggles as he grabs his friend's finger and then gently lets go and positions himself better, he feels Joshua's hand tracing little circles down his back and it feels good, he finally feels like he's got his best friend back and that makes him happy.

" You understand better now why I left you."

Jeonghan looks up and sees his ex, Joshua's hand on his back has stopped and his gaze has darkened even more. As for the blond, he looks at the girl, who has tears in the corners of her eyes and is playing with the ring Jeonghan had given her at the very start of their relationship.

" Joshua is probably the only person who understands me better than anyone else, he doesn't judge me, he listens to me and consoles me, he's there for me and he doesn't stop me from living."

" Are you saying that personally I was stopping you from living ? "

" You didn't want me to go out, you wanted me to stay away from my friends and Joshua in particular, you didn't even want me to go and see my brother anymore. You were jealous of everyone close to me, it was becoming unbearable. "

Joshua blinks, just a few seconds ago Jeonghan wanted his girlfriend back by his side and now she's right in front of him and he's spitting out his hatred, the girl starts crying, throws the ring in her ex's face and walks away more humiliated than ever.

" I didn't expect that honestly. "

" I thought I loved her, but when I saw her in front of us, still jealous, it just pissed me off, and maybe it's for the best that she left me. I even wonder how I let the situation get so bad."

" Love is the most enigmatic and strange feeling I know. I don't understand it for being completely honest"

" So am I. Shua, shall we start our horror movie nights again as soon as tonight ? "

" With pleasure Han-ah."

The two boys smile at each other and then when they hear the bell ring they straighten up and head off to their classroom, they hear whispers again and Joshua this time instead of looking coldly, smiles wryly and gives a slight wink to the students who are talking over them. The students quickly apologize and say how happy they are to see Joshua back as he was before. He's more relaxed, smiling and teasing, and what's more, he's glued to Jeonghan again - it's absolute bliss.

The black-haired man nods his head, and the day soon comes to an end. Jeonghan and Joshua decide to go to the younger man's house, on the way they talk about everything and anything as if their distance had never existed, and then they arrive at their destination, quickly taking off their shoes and jackets and settling down on the sofa in the living room.

Throughout, Jeonghan is pressed up against him and his concentration on the film gradually dissipates. He's never felt an attraction like this towards the older man, and besides, he knows there's no point in loving him, since he only likes girls.

" Shua. Why are you looking at me ? "

" Hm, sorry I was in my thoughts."

" I feel like we're not like we used to be. That maybe the words of our exes are real."

" Jeonghan you only like girls. It doesn't make sense, we've been friends since we were kids, too."

" Weren't you the one who said love was the most enigmatic feeling ? I feel like we've just been using our exes to try to forget the real feelings we have for each other and to try to convince ourselves that we're really friends and nothing more."

Joshue sighs and thinks, then finally says to himself that there's only one way to find out if it's true or not, so he catches the older man's face between his hands and then comes to rest his lips against Jeonghan's. His fingers slide against the older man's neck and he feels his heart begin to pound against his ribcage and he feels his elder's pulse against his fingers. The exchange is as gentle and calm as their relationship, and after a few seconds they pull back from each other.

" What do you think Shuji-ya ? "

" I think we can't stay friends."

" I think exactly the same thing."

" Shall we be in a relationship ? "

" Hm." Jeonghan starts laughing.

Joshua accompanies him in his laughter and then after this moment the two boys decide to concentrate on the film again, even if they're missing a good part of the film they don't care because now they're in each other's arms happier than ever and that's all that matters to them.
