The Adventure of the Totems (Varian x Hugo)

Different Ulf, in tangled theirs a mime named Ulf in VAT&K their was a concept of Varian's Uncle (ulla's brother) being named Ulf but two diffrent Ulfs just for clarification.

Varian's POV

I watch Azzy walk into the market with Nuru and wish I could go with them, "Varian he's your uncle you have to talk to him at some point" Hugo states taking my hand I flush "do I have too? what if he's just like my mom or what if he's worse!" my thoughs start to get the better of me while I walk Hugo gribs on to my shoulder giving it a squeeze "Hair stripe its going to be fine and if it not well leave and never come back ok?" Hugo assures me.

"when did you become so wise?" I tease he smiles "I have always been you've always been to stuck in your own head to notice" Hugo gloats, says the guy who refused to tell me he was working for Donella but I won't mention that. "This is the address" Hugo states stopping in front of a house that looked like every other house on the block. I gulp Hugo slips his hand into mine "it will be ok V" Hugo says and I believe him.

I let go of his hand and knock on the door. I hear footsteps on the other side march to the door when it swings open. "Hello what can i-" the big burley man stops himself looking down at me he has black hair like mine with some gray mixed in. I blow my hair out of my face "Hi I'm Varian, umm I doubt you would know who I am" the man crouches down to my level "Are you" he starts but i just nod.

I smile spreads across his face before he picks me off the ground giving me a huge bear hug "Oh you look just like her" he stated "thanks?" i say as i find it hard to breathe. He puts me down "come in come in, your friends too" Ulf says quickly I look over at Hugo he nods before dragging Yong by the arm, now he's been acting weird. "Come sit, Carol we have guess!" he shouts up the stairs.

We sit in the kitchen as Ulf calls for his family. Carol I assume comes down dressed in a apron dress with a kid that has what looks like a busted knee on her hip. "Honey I told you i'm not in the mood for Guests" the woman says calmly "but he's Ulla's son" so he does reconize me. I clench and unclench my fist when Hugo holds my hands with is not doing much to calm my anxiety.

"Oh" Carol's tone sounded surprised when her eyes land on me "you do look like her, but that's beside the point, Dear" Carol states gaining her husband's attention "I have several things I need to get done before going to my parents for the weekend, you and the kids need food set up and Lana is having her whole rebellious phase, are you sure you want me to-" He looks at his wife taking the child who's on her hip and holding the small maybe five year-old in his arms.

"Baby I got this, its not like I havent been left alone with the kids before. Go check on you mom, in the mean time that isn't till this weekend" He says before looking over at us, "let the kids meet their cousin and let me meet my nephew" he pleds. she sighs "fine, Lana, June, Vince downstairs now!" the woman shouts and she has some lungs. I look over at Yong who's just staring at the table? i told you weird.

"Hey" Hugo says leaning over to whisper in my ear "i'm going to take Yong out, i don't want to intrude on your family time" Hugo states I lean back over "but you're my family, probably more than they are" i mummble the last part, He smiles "i know but i think this is something you should do alone, I'll be right outside if you need anything ok?" Hugo states i squeeze his hand "fine" i sigh he looks like he wants to say something but chooses against it giving the back of my hand a kiss and heading out the door.

"your friends are welcome to stay?" Ulf says sitting down next to me "they know, they just wanted me to get to know you" i say cause Ulf to smile "well this one her is Kacy, say hi to your cousin" the raven head man states, the little girl turns her head and gives me a little wave. I look down at her knee and see its still busted "let me fix that" i state pulling out a blue vile from my bag "can i?" i ask Ulf looks worried but nods.

I drip a little of the bottle on to her leg and it instantly heals The little girl smiles "thank you" she whispers. "You're welcome" i whisper back. "June, Vince, Lana, this is your cousin umm, sorry sweetie whats your name again?" she asks "Varian" i state calmly she smiles "your cousin Varian" Carol says the three kids wave i wave back akwardly. "now you three can go back to what your doing" The mom states and the three kids run off "I'll take her sweetie" Carol says picking up Kacy and carring her off "hey how it that heal so fast?" I hear her voice down the hall and smile to myself.

I look over at my uncle who looks like he might cry. "Hi um Ulf, i um i'm sorry for not reaching out, honestly i didn't know you existed till two weeks? Months? how long have we been on the road?" i mumble to myself doing mental calculations "i'm just glad your here, i knew my sister had a kid but we- I didn't know where you were" he mumbles "i'm sorry" Ulf states "its ok" i say back.

I catch him up skiping over the near death exsperinces and most things about my dad he seemed to get angry when i mentond him. "wow kid sounds like you had a long busy life" he says sadly "yeah, busy" i mumble "but what brings you here?" he asks i sigh "me and my friends are trying to collect the trail totems-" he cuts me off "the trial- no thats to dangerous" he starts "wait you know about the totems? do you know where the earth-" he stops me "no, no, i can't let you go after" He says.

"Well you can't really stop me" i say "i mean i'm an adult i live at the castle i can make my own-" i ramble "No you can Ulla your just a child!" he shouts tears breaching his eyes. I stop my rambling and look at him confused and scared. Ulf sits back down "sorry Varian i- i don't know where that came from" he sighs "its ok, i'm sorry for bringing up old memories" i say "i'll visit another day" i state and Ulf looks up from his hands "you can't leave" he states "like i said you can't really-" i start but he stands up reaching behind a cabint and pulling out a totem "with out this" he admits.

I take the brown totem, moss grown around it and pink flowers peaking up from the top "how do you" Ulf shakes his head "I was farming when i found it looked it up in a book and got spooked. Carol doesn't even know i have it, just take it. Please just promise to visit soon kid" Ulf pleds I nod "i will" i state tucking the totem in my bag before heading out what a weird family reunion.

I walk outside and find Hugo arguing with Yong "Whats wrong?" I ask "he has your mother in his head" Hugo states pointing at the shorter boy "what?!" i ask suprised "Hi Varian" My mother's voice comes from Yong's mouth i step back "thats freaky, why didn't you come and get me?" I ask the blonde "i was about to but i couldn't make it to the door" Hugo states glaring at Yong, Ulla, someone. "Varian my baby, I have come to warn you" she states but i cut her off "i don't care about your warnings, you are trying to destroy all magic the magic i like yet your using it as a tool to get to me? how ironc" i state "this isn't magic this is possession completly diffrent" she says and i've had just about enough of her.

"Let Yong go" i state "no don't think i will unless you want me to use your body instead?" she states Hugo steps in front of me "over my dead body" Hugo states Yong's face smile widents as his eyes glow a brighter blue "that can be arranged" she states and before i know it everyone in the town is running after us. I hold on to Hugo's hand as we run. Next thing i know we're in front of the Carvan next to a passed out Yong and Nuru on the gound. along with a confused Azzy besided us. "i hate being left out of the loop" i state as i help Azzy and Hugo load our friends into the back of the Carvan. At least we have one Totem but i'm going to keep that to myself for now..........
