in my chest a familiar ache
pain that lingers like a shadow
crying alone in the darkness
my soul searching for solace
tears I thought had dried up
but the heart remembers its wounds
gave it away again
hoping for a gentle touch
why do I ignore the whispers
of my mind warning me of heartache
but my heart beats with a stubborn hope
a resilience that refuses to break
always forgets that my brain loves it more
