Arianna felt so exhausted and drained when she finally made it into her room. Throwing her shoes to a corner she fell face flat on her bed. Travis wasn't her most difficult client but he sure took a toll on her. It probably was because she hadn't anticipated it. How could a guy whose life was so perfect be so messed up?
She moaned when someone knocked on the door.
"What's the password?"
"I have dinner" came her grandmother's voice
"COME IN!" she yelled forgetting her exhaustion. Her grandmother pushed the door open a warmer in her left hand.
"So? How was it?" Arianna wasn't sure if her grandmother was concerned for her or just wanted some gossip. Taking the warmer she sat to eat.
"It was okay, at least not better than I expected" a thought flashed Arianna's mind something she should have thought of probably before she began to eat "why are you feeding me? Is this my last supper?" Arianna asked before distancing herself from the food.
"Don't be silly, I told you only those that work should eat you deserve it, and since nothing interesting happened I'm going" her grandmother made her way to the door and before closing it added "and I do expect half of your pay"
Arianna spat out her food.
Arianna couldn't fall asleep. For once she felt worried. Before now she never really cared if she succeeded in helping her clients or not, the pay was too little to put in such efforts. But now, it really mattered and it had to work Mrs. Juliana was smart and cunning there was no telling what she would do if she didn't succeed.

Jasper was waiting when Arianna came out of her apartment building.
"Good morning" after their chat yesterday Arianna expected that they had become best friends. They hadn't. Jasper just nodded not looking away from the road. Because of the tinted glass Arianna had not noticed Mrs. Julian was also perched at the back seat before getting in.
"Ah! you scared me" she realized that was kind of a rude thing to say to her boss and owner of the car "I mean good morning Juliana" even though Mrs. Juliana was smiling at her, Arianna still felt awkward calling her by her first name.
"Morning Arianna" she responded after Arianna had settled beside her "there is a presentation at work today so have to be there super early.
"I see" a silence stretched and Arianna couldn't help but feel she should say something but didn't know what?
"Are you sure it will work?" the question took Arianna by surprise mostly because she wasn't expecting it at least not this soon. She didn't have to ask what she meant. Mrs. Juliana had proven how smart she was and although Arianna's method wasn't popular because she had in fact come up with it herself, she wasn't surprised Mrs. Juliana had figured it out.
"Yes! yes it will" Arianna hoped her words were convincing enough.
"Good I believe you to make it work because I would hate for this to be a waste of time or worse a mistake" the air was so tense she couldn't breathe. "I hope it's alright if we dropped you off at the junction" Mrs. Juliana said with a comforting smile but that just scared Arianna the more. Her head was spinning and don't know they had already arrived.
"We are here" Jasper spoke up in a tune that didn't help the tension in the air
"Have a great day" Arianna said getting out
"You as well dear" Mrs Juliana responded
When Arianna got out Jasper gave her a look she couldn't read. Judgmental? Guilt? She couldn't tell. She brushed if off and focused on what was ahead of her as she walked towards the house. As if you didn't already doubt herself, Mrs. Juliana had to doubt her too. It was a five minute walk from the junction and with Arianna lost in thought; she didn't know when she arrived at the door.
"Over here! Hey! Hello??" Arianna finally snapped from her trance. Travis was sitting in the hut in the center of a pretty garden. He had combed his hair and Arianna thought he looked stunning in the sun.
Arianna joined him on a bench and admired the garden. She was happy to be outside and loved the cool breeze that blew.
"I'm sorry about um.. yelling at you yesterday you were right" the way he avoided eye contact and scratched the back of his head was cute but it also showed that he wasn't the type that apologized a lot.
Arianna was surprised but excited it was working, she had just been overthinking it. She was good. Travis was good. She would not be tied to a chair in a basement for being incompetent.
"What is with that triumphant smirk?" she didn't realized she was smiling. She wanted to run around the garden bare feet and dance but she decided not to.
"You don't get the second heir to a multinational company to apologize to a commoner like me every day" she said instead.
"Please don't make this weird" Travis pleaded "second heir" he muttered under his breath
Arianna abandoned all her plans to make it weird.
"Alright get up! We are going out" Arianna declared jumping unto the bench.
"Yeah no way" Travis said firmly.
"Why not? It's a beautiful day"
"No its not, the sun is burning and Jasper isn't home who is meant to drive us in case you don't know I'm a celebrity I can't just go out" he has a point Arianna thought not the part of being a celebrity but they needed a ride.
"You are right. How about tomorrow? I'll have time to plan" Travis wanted to argue but thought better of it.
"Fine but you are going to have to ask my mom"
"Yay!" Arianna celebrated "speaking of which what is up with Jasper? he is so unfriendly"
"Unfriendly? He probably just doesn't like you"
Before Arianna could react, Matilda walked up bearing two cups of chilled lemonade
"Morning Matilda" Arianna greeted.
"Hello Arianna I see you are having an energetic morning" Arianna realized that she hadn't gotten down from the bench and jumped down immediately. After Matilda handed them their drinks, she returned into the house.
"Jasper is Matilda's grandson "
"What??? No way! They are nothing alike Matilda is kind and friendly while Jasper is well.. the opposite of that"
"Jasper and I grew up together he is like a brother to me we did everything together. Our greatest dream was to run the company together to bear the pain and glory together but no matter how close we were he still wasn't my brother just someone who was meant to work for me and walk behind me always in the shadow. As we grew my mom kept reminding Jasper of his place and we grew apart" Travis drained his glass before continuing "and now that I'm sick, mom works him to the bone doing my job while I stay home and drink lemonade" he gripped the glass tight.
"Is that okay? Are you sure he isn't going to take your place?" Arianna said and sipped her lemonade
"What do you mean?"
"Well for someone who was always in the shadow, this opportunity to be in the spotlight will be hard to pass on"
"Don't talk about Jasper like that, you don't know him he will never betray me!"
"Do you have any proof of that? You shouldn't be naïve, this world is a selfish place" Travis was fuming he gripped his cup so hard it shattered in his grasp.
"SHUT UP! Or next it will be your neck"
The rage in his eyes silenced Arianna. Had she gone too far again?. Travis stormed towards the front door after disposing the remaining glass in his grip amongst the flowers. Arianna dared not follow him instead she picked up the glass from the flowers.
"I guess that was a sore wound, thanks to that I'm back to square one" when she was done she disposed the glass into a trash bin, she sat back in the hut. Thinking back on everything and making notes. I wonder if he will still be up for the outing tomorrow? Not knowing the answer she still went ahead to make plans.
It all goes by so fast.
