Travis was feeling more confident as the week passed, he hadn't had any outburst all week and Arianna complained that her neck had grown stiff from not having to dodge anything.
"Your grandfather will be here for lunch on Saturday. Your mother has arranged that you will spend the weekend at her other quarters. You will leave, then we will come back when he has arrived and your mum can't hide you" Jasper briefed over the conference call. He thought it would be suspicious for us to meet in person.
"Okay, no backing out now" Travis said taking a deep breath
"You can actually back out" Arianna quipped earning a glare from Jasper. She wasn't regretting bringing up the idea but the fact that she will stop seeing Travis and Jasper if tomorrow went well, placed a lump in her throat that wouldn't go down.
"We should get some rest, tomorrow is a big day, think of it like the day you plead not to be executed or a spy going into the enemy's camp to prevent them from ending the world, or an adventurer.."
"We get it Jasper" Arianna interrupted "we are taking this seriously, because it may sound like an exaggeration but our life does depend on it. Well, good night" Arianna disconnected the call and lay staring at the ceiling. She wanted tomorrow to go well because if it didn't, things will never be the same. She didn't want this job to go bad for the sake of her career but she hoped that was all it was about.

The sun rose bright the next morning. Since Arianna wasn't going to work she decided to sleep in although they agreed to meet at the quarters. Arianna didn't think Travis needed her there, it would just complicate things she thought. But of course she didn't tell them that. She stirred and turned all night and had bags under her eyes. She had been exhausted all week and thought she would sleep all through today.
She was worried about Jasper who been an instigator, will surely face the consequences. Probably lose his job and that of his mother if things occurred at worst case scenario. She was worried for Mrs. Juliana who wanted nothing but for her son to inherit the company after her. If this went wrong it ruined her chances as well as his. She was worried for herself how she might suddenly disappear because she was incompetent and knew too much. And most of all, she was worried about Travis who might spend his life regretting ever meeting her.
Jasper and Travis arrived at the quarters as planned and waited. While Travis counted his fingers to handle his nerves, Jasper paced the room his hands in his waist like his grandmother.
"Where is she? She should be here by now!" Jasper asked Travis even though he knew very much that Travis also had that question in mind
"You don't think she bailed right? You know, probably left the country?" Travis asked counting his fingers faster.
"She wouldn't" Jasper tried to convince but remembered Arianna's personality "yeah I can definitely see that" Although Jasper didn't know Arianna that well, he knew that she was no fool. She always made logical steps to save herself. It wasn't in a selfish kind of way but realistic. Jasper glanced at his watch.
"Almost time yeah?" Travis asked when he saw the expression on Jasper's face.
"Yes, your grandfather should be on his way if not already there. We wait about thirty minutes before heading back" Jasper relaxed on a couch exhausted from pacing.
"How do you feel? I mean we could lose our dreams, everything" Travis had stopped counting his fingers and looked just a little bit tensed.
"I don't think we would be losing everything as long as we are together we will be able to build our dreams" Travis shoulders relaxed. "That was cheesy right?" Jasper said with a laugh
"Yes, but just a little bit" after sharing a laugh Travis added "if this doesn't go well you better tell me that again"
"I will but I hope you believe it"
MR. Andrew was a plump man who was always in a suit no matter the weather. Even though he always wore a small smile, he eyes bore no kindness. He dropped off at the front of Mrs. Juliana's house and after inspecting the environment let out a scoff.
Mrs. Juliana was waiting at the door to welcome him along with Matilda who kept fidgeting with her apron. Even though she had worked with Mrs. Juliana for years and attended about fifteen of these lunches, she just couldn't relax.
Running forward, she collected his suitcase which she wondered why he needed to just to eat lunch.
"Welcome Mr. Andrew it's always nice to have you, and you haven't aged a bit" Matilda greeted removing his jacket that hanging it on the coat rack.
"Ah Matilda. I wish I could say the same about you" he pushed past her as though he had given her a compliment.
"Welcome father" Mrs. Juliana greeted. "I hope the journey wasn't too draining, the dining room is right through here"
"Don't make it look like I live in another country, and I know where the dining room is" he walked past her. Mr. Andrew had an atmosphere that always made him the master of the room no matter where he was. An atmosphere that chocked those around him but they couldn't get rid of. "and I'll prefer you address me as Mr. Andrew let's keep the relationship professional, shall we? " Mrs. Juliana flinched and nodded.
"Yes Mr. Andrew"
They sat in silence while Matilda served lunch, both at the opposite ends of the table as far away from each other as possible.
"Matilda please can you make sure to prepare something for my driver as well" Mr. Andrew asked and Matilda nodded hurrying back to the kitchen. Someone who was naïve might mistake this for kindness. It was not. Mr. Andrew only cared about his reputation. The only reason he attended these lunched was to make the world believe they were a happy family. To him a happy family and employee relation is the foundation for a successful business. Mrs. Juliana hated that he was right, she wanted them to be a happy family even without the camera.
Matilda went out to serve Mr. Andrew's driver when Travis and jasper arrived. She met them at the door and almost lost grip on the tray.
"What are you boys doing here?!" she made sure to control the volume of her voice and not cause a scene.
"Why do you sound surprised grand ma, this is a family lunch is it not? and Travis is part of the family" Jasper explained to his grandmother but she didn't look relax she even looked more alarmed
"This was your idea jasper? Have you lost your mind? Do you know what is at stake?" this was the first time Travis had seen Matilda look serious she always sounded so cheerful "Travis dear you have to go back before your grandfather sees you' Travis was amazed at how fast she could change her tone.
"I can't leave because of that reason, it is in fact why I am here" Travis patted her on the shoulder and walked past Matilda. She wanted to stop him but Jasper held her back.
"Don't worry grandma, we already thought this through" Matilda gave up and just looked fearfully at Travis as he made his way to the dining area. What do you guys think? Will Travis convince his grandfather? Or will this be the end of the fairytale. Let me know in the comments
