Passion

Arianna jerked awake at three in the morning. She had gotten home past midnight after the party and went straight to bed only to be visited by a nightmare.
She was been chased by men in black, kidnapped and locked up in a basement. There were no windows and every corner she looked, hand bones in piles of those who had been here before her she guessed.
She wasn't the type to be scared of nightmares but when you make a deal with a devil in her case, a certain Mrs. Juliana, everything scares you.
She filled her tub with cold water and dipped herself it. Although she was drenched in cold sweat, the water felt refreshing. She didn't know she had fallen asleep until she jerked awake by another nightmare.
This time around, the was a doll who looked exactly like Travis. It was being pulled by puppet strings and where the strings pulled bleed. Mrs. Juliana tried to cut off the ropes but her blade was blunt. The expression on Travis' face was miserable and he looked straight at her begging for help.
Although she was in the tub, she could feel herself sweating and trembling. The water had grown warm so she drained it and filled it with fresh cold water.
"What have I done?" she thought to herself. She hadn't considered if what she was getting into would hurt those around her, she only thought of a path that would lead her to a better life. She was selfish but didn't see it as a big deal because at some point before everyone had been selfish. She just had this one chance to do something for herself.
When she noticed her skin was pale with cold, she got up, put her cloths on, and went to bed awaiting the next nightmare. In this story she was the bad guy.

Travis was so excited he couldn't sleep. Even though he didn't sleep the night before because of his nerves, he wasn't tired at all. He kept recalling all that happened that afternoon, and all the events that will likely follow. He would go to the company with Jasper and finally begin working out their dream.
When Travis woke up the next morning, he was almost blinded by the sun and his mouth tasted like fermented orange juice. Dragging himself out of bed, he brushed his teeth and took a shower before leaving his room.
Jasper was at the dining table sipping a cup of coffee while reading a newspaper.
"Why are you drinking coffee on a weekend?" Travis asked slipping into the seat opposite Jasper
"A bad habit" Jasper responded with a shrug.
"My mom?"
"She just went back to bed she says she is still a little bit exhausted from last night" Jasper said putting down the paper.
"She is not the only one" Travis yawned and poured himself a glass of cold water.
"Good morning Travis, I trust you had a good rest" Matilda served Travis a plate of pancakes and syrup in a small jug along with a cup of tea.
"Morning Matilda, I don't feel like I slept at all" he said after draining the glass and thanking her for the food.
"Aren't you going to pick up Arianna?" Travis said after a while. Jasper gave him a funny look like he had amnesia and lost all his memories.
"You are fine now, Arianna isn't going to come anymore"
Travis heart sunk. He hadn't thought of the fact that it was Arianna's job to make him better and she wouldn't be needed  when he was, over the past weeks he had been having so much fun that he thought of Arianna as a part of his life more like a therapist.
"Oh but it wouldn't hurt to have her around you know incase" Travis replied
"There are no opportunities for incase now Travis. And if anything were to happen you have me and that is enough" Jasper firmly stated and they ate their breakfast in silence.

He had just fallen asleep when his alarm rang for seven A.M. He slammed the snooze button and went back to sleep clearly too sleepy to turn his dream into reality. Jasper had briefed him about the company through out yesterday and when he was done, Travis was too overwhelmed to sleep. Jasper burst into his room minutes later.
"What are you still doing in bed? I can swear I set your alarm for seven A.M!"  Jasper complained strolling into the room and throwing the blinds open. For this early it was so bright outside. Travis groaned and fell out of bed, now that he wasn't working on excitement he was exhausted.  Jasper pushed him into the bathroom before going to prepare himself.
After a warm shower, putting on his suit, and combing his hair, he joined Jasper at the dining table drinking a large cup of coffee.
"Good morning "he greeted pouring himself a cup of coffee
"Good morning. How are you feeling about your first day?"
"Don't make this weird you know it's not my first day. But back then things were so simple. How did things change so much over such little time"
"Well we have to catch up. I hope you aren't hungry because we are already running late" Jasper said pushing his chair backward and putting on his suit jacket. Travis was  hungry but shook his head.
"What of my mom isn't she coming with us?"
"She already went ahead. She had to call Kevin since you didn't want to get out of bed" Jasper explained sorting through a basket of car keys. Kevin was Mrs. Juliana's driver before Jasper came of age. He was the same age as Matilda but clearly not ready to resign.
Travis and Jasper arrived at the company about an hour later. The building was huge it could be seen miles away. The main building was so tall it obstructed the sun casting a huge shade in front of it. Tiny warehouses and garages surrounded it where spare parts and cars were kept and were test runs were carried out.
Jasper parked in the parking lot underground and led Travis to the main building. Everyone seemed to know Jasper and threw curious glances at Travis.
"Why are people so conscious of me?" Travis asked falling in step with Jasper.
"People don't just start working here, they usually go through rigorous procedures to prove themselves"
"Rigorous procedures like what? They didn't have to do that before" as Travis asked, a man about their age passed them struggling with a mountain of files two big bags dandled on his shoulder as he staggered to offices delivering files.
"Your grandfather believes you need to go through rock bottom to understand what it means to be at the top, so when you get there you will do anything the stay there" Travis peeped through one of the offices and say a lady furiously typing at a computer her hair was a mess, her offices was dirtied with to-go cups of coffee, she looked like she hadn't slept in days but she kept typing.
"Is this even legal" Travis asked with horror in his eye. Jasper couldn't help but laugh
"Of course it is. They are doing this at their own free will. This company doesn't threaten people to work, and they don't make people work overtime you can quit at any time and many will be there to replace you."
"Then why?" Travis asked following jasper as he walked.
"Well who knows? But based on what your grandfather told you, passion I guess"
