After our break up, I moved out. I packed my bags the day after and chartered a cab home. He didn't even try to stop me, he just sat and watched me go.

When I turned up at my house, my mom came out to me. She was shocked to see me with my belongings. She helped me in and then we sat to talk.

"What's this?" she asked.
"You were right mom, I should've dated someone within my class and not fall for Marlon's kindness." I replied sadly.
"What happened?"
"He broke up with me, I knew this was inevitable but I illude myself into thinking it will work. His family is the main factor in us cutting ties as expected. I knew they'll never accept me but Marlon promised to fight for us and he didn't. It isn't that I want him to put me above his family but we had a good thing going on and he threw it away because he feared rejection by his family and peers." I poured out.
"I knew something like this would've happened, I just didn't want to steal your happiness. I knew his family would have never accepted you. The rich thinks of themselves as superior to the poor. A poor person will never be accepted whether the person loves you or not. They just sees us as slaves." Mom explained.  At this explanation I recounted to her my encounter with Marlon's family.
"Why didn't you tell me this and we always talk on the phone and you visit me sometimes?"
"Because I saw it as a relationship issue that I needed to keep amongst me and my man."
"But I'm your mom, things like these you shouldn't hide from me. Those rich bastards." She said angrily.

Even though, I told my mom of his family, I didn't tell her that he had  a fiancee, that his family wanted him to be with. The girl he chose over me. I knew she'll get angry, saying I had  made the same mistake as her, though I was warned multiple times. She always feared for me to get involved with someone else's partner and end up being rejected in the end.
