Caitlin's POV

My eyes flutter open and I instantly look down at the girl nuzzled into my neck. A sense of disbelief, but also happiness, washes over me as I realise this is real. Elena is asleep in my bed, in my clothes beside me and not just because she's drunk, but beacuse we kissed yesterday at the park.

We kissed.

I had no clue what actually compelled me to confess my feelings to her, but I had no regrets. After finally kissing her, I realised I'd wanted this for so long. I wanted it while I was still with Lia, I wanted it even more after we broke up.

Elena was mine.

Elena hums as she shuffles slightly, her eyes slowly opening as she stirs awake. "Morning." She smiles up at me, her voice hoarse from sleep.

I pulled Elena back closer to me, letting her rest her head on my chest. "Morning." I smile back at her. She looks up and pecks my lips softly. "Did you sleep well?"

"Because I was in your arms? Yes." She says and I let out a light chuckle. "What about you?"

"The same." I kiss her forhead. "You need to tame your hair."

"Hey!" She gets up and pats it down. "Not cool, Cait."

"I was joking." I laugh at her. "Come on, we need to get up. We have to get ready for training." I throw the duvet off me and grab her hand, leading her out of the room. She groans at me for pulling her out of the warmth of the bed as the November cold sets in. "I think I have all the ingredients for pancakes."

"Oh my God, yes! I love pancakes!" Elena jumps up and down.

"Now you're happy to be out of bed." I say as I begin pulling the ingredients out to make the pancakes mix.

"That's because I'd choose pancakes over anyone." She says as she comes behind me and wraps her arms around my waist.

"You can't just say that then hug me." I say as I step away from her. "You just basically broke up with me."

"We're together?" She asks, softly, her eyes sparkling.

"Of course we are, Els." I place the flour down on the counter behind me without looking before I step forward and hold her face in my hands and pull her closer to me. Our lips meet and my eyes shut as we share a slow, tender kiss.

After we pull away, Elena brings her hand up to mine and holds it. "Well, then I pick you over the pancakes."

"I'm glad to hear." I laugh and so does she. I could listen to her laugh over and over again and never get bored of it. "I'm actually not that great at making pancakes."

"Don't worry, master chef Pugh is here." Elena steps forward and begins on the pancake mix. "Can you pass me the milk?" She asks me and I nod, walking to the fridge to grab the bottle. I give it to her and our fingers brush. I still get, what I realise now was, butterflies whenever we touch suddenly like that. "Can you mix that, I'm gonna turn the stove on and get the pan."

"The pans are over there." I direct her.

"What if I smacked you over the head with this pan like Rapunzel?" She asks as she walks back over to the stove.

"Should I be concerned for my life right now?" I ask her, stepping back from her.

"Probably. I can be very impulsive."

"And what's an example?" I ask her, intruiged to know more about her.

"Back in America, I was third wheeling Rachel and Kristie back when they were together and we went out. We ended up at this lake, but we were stood at the top of a cliff sort of thing. I was staring at the edge while the girls talked and I just got the thought of how cool it would be to dive into the lake from there so I just jumped." She says with a shrug.

"Elena!"

"It was fun. I felt like I was flying, up until I realised I was soaking and we weren't allowed to go home until I dried off so I wouldn't get Kristie's new car wet."

"You're crazier than me." I tell her, she laughs at me and the memories I tell her of me, Macca and Alanna at camps. She tells me I'm crazy as she comes behind me and wraps her arms around my waist again.

"Flip it." She tells me. I pick up the pan and flip the pancake up into the air. When I try to catch it in the pan, I completely miss and it fall onto the floor, which ends with Elena laughing uncontrollably at me as she goes to clean it up.

I could spend all my mornings like this.

I park up my car outside the training facility and Elena and I walk inside. She didn't have her training kit on her since she'd slept over at mine so, she came in a pair of my black shorts and shirt. She looked good in black.

As I shut the door behind me and turn around, I see Steph stood infront of Elena. "Where were you?" She asks Elena.

"After Caitlin and I went on our walk, I ended up at hers and we fell asleep on the sofa watching a movie." She replies. She was keeping what had happened yesterday a secret. Thank God because I didn't want to hurt Lia by moving on so quickly.

"Well, your kits in my bag." Steph nods to the lounge where we all dump our stuff with no care before we run out into the pitch.

"Thanks, Steffy." Elena kisses her check before hurrying past Steph, knowing she'd get annoyed when Els would do that.

Training went by quickly. Jonas had put us into unusual assigned partners today so Elena and I weren't able to train together, but it didn't stop us from sharing glances from across the pitch. She walked past me a few times and secretly squeezed my hand, letting us have our intimate moments while still keeping it quiet in front of the team.

I walk up to Elena after training and we walk back inside behind everyone else. "Thanks for keeping it on the down low." I say to her quitely.

"No problem. I just think it's best we keep it quiet for now since you're still fresh out of a relationship and I..." She hesitates, but I squeeze her hand. Elena was a really closed off person and despite her sharing about her family and other things to me and no one else, I still didn't know a lot about her that I wish I did. "I just think I need time after, you know, Ona." She says quickly, trying to get it over with.

"Yeah, don't worry." I tell her. "We can take it one day at a time."

"Thank you, Cait." She says solemnly and pulls me into a hug. I hold her waist, not wanting to let go off her.
