🏞️🌦️🛕As dawn broke through the lingering storm clouds, Urfi climbed the slick, rocky staircase toward the Diamond Temple, her breath visible in the chill air.
The air was fresh and damp, carrying the scent of rain-soaked earth and the faint echo of the storm that had just passed.
Each step she took was accompanied by the soft squelch of wet stone underfoot, the sound eerily amplified in the hushed morning stillness.
Urfi's heart thudded in her chest, matching the uneasy rhythm that gnawed at her insides.
The temple and its surroundings felt ancient, and despite the unfamiliarity, there was a strange sense of connection that tugged at her-a pull she couldn't quite understand but couldn't ignore.
Where...where am I?" she whispered, her voice barely audible against the oppressive silence.
The stairs seemed to stretch on forever, an endless steep leading her deeper into the unknown.
Her legs grew heavy with each step, but something compelled her to continue, an invisible force driving her forward.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she reached the top. The sight that met her eyes was more horrifying than anything she could have imagined.
Two bloodied bodies of a man and woman lay crumpled on the cold, stone floor, their hands intertwined. Blood pooled around them, thick and dark, seeping into the cracks between the ancient stones.
The garments they wore, once resplendent with the colors of royalty, were now stained with death, their rich fabrics clinging to lifeless forms.
Urfi's breath caught in her throat, her hand flying to her mouth as she staggered backward, the world around her spinning.
Her mind raced to comprehend the scene before her, but all she could feel was a rising tide of nausea and dread.
"Who are they? What has happened here?"
Her thoughts were interrupted by a faint whisper that floated on the wind like a ghostly memory.
"King Abhinandan and his wife Queen Anushka"
Urfi's head snapped to the right, her heart skipping a beat as she locked eyes with the source of the voice.
Standing beside her, as if she had been there all along, was the waitress from the Bhatera, the woman she had seen only once but who now seemed to know more about her than she knew herself.
"You!" Urfi exclaimed, her voice trembling. "What are you doing here? Where am I? Did you kill these people?"
The waitress, calm and composed, looked out over the cliffside, her eyes scanning the horizon with a knowing sadness. "This is Indrapur. And this..." she gestured to the destruction below, "is the state it lies in now."
