Lucy's diary

No entry due to room sharing agreements.

»It's the one bed trope...«

»What the fuck is the one bed trope?« Max asked with his eyebrows raised, ushering Lucy inside and closing the door behind them. When he turned to her, she was still staring at the one bed in the room, a blush spreading over her pale cheeks.

»You know-«

»No I don't!« Max threw his duffel bag on an unoccupied armchair, considering if to sleep on that thing tonight.

He didn't have the energy left to go knocking on doors to ask if any pair with two beds would be willing to switch with them. Getting people to trust him enough for Lucy and him to share a room together had been exhausting enough. The whole way up to the first floor he'd felt Checos eyes in his back and he hadn't miss Christian whispering to Lucy, that if anything happened she could text him.

It hurt a bit - seeing how little faith two of the closest people to him seemed to have in him. Because yes, sure, Max had his moments and he hadn't been the nicest towards Lucy, but did they really think he would harm her?

It just further strengthened the isolation Max had been feeling ever since the season had started. Showed him that it wasn't just in his mind and the bridge between them only being broken down by him. Their actions hurt the relationship just as much.

»Let me finish my sentence then!« Lucy said, shooting Max a glare that could only be compared to Kyras. Out of habit he froze and the girl continued. »The one bed trope is commonly used in romance books... a couple of which I've read.«

Max pulled a sour face at the words "romance books", never having wasted much of his time with anything concerning the genre (books, movies, music etc.) Not that his father and his plans for his son would have allowed him that luxury. And now at the proud age of 26 he just felt too old to get into it.

»Basically it's a plot device used to force two characters who don't like each other to spend time together and physically be close to each other. Hence the bed.« Lucy gestured towards the kingsized bed standing between them as if they were the characters and they were actually living that trope right now.

Well, if Max really thought about it, their situation was very similar to the one Lucy just described. They were two people who didn't necessarily get along well (mostly thanks to him) and through a series of unfortunate events (Christian Horners skills as a host), they were forced to stay in a room that only had one bed in it.

Now the Dutchman wasn't the kind of guy to believe in superstition or fate, but even he had to admit his mouth was getting dry and his hands a little sweaty. His eyes wandered to the bed which was covered by a blue duvet with some floral pattern on it. Geri had probably picked that one out, Christian didn't have good taste like his wife.

»And what happens to the characters after they spend the night in the same bed?« He asked, telling himself he was just curious. Not scared.

Lucy was quiet for a moment, swallowing before she answered, »They usually fall in love or at least that is what gets the process into rolling.«
