Hello, welcome to another chapter guys!

Yes, I did it. I wrote something. Heavy weight on the something :)

Anyways, TW is: Jos Verstappen (again, sorry)

Okay, enjoy!

Lucy's diary

Max is smiling more.

The next two days were spent doing three things:

Putting together an article, which happened in every free minute, in any place and with whoever was available at the time (Max, Charles or Kyra.

Keeping Jos Verstappen away from his son, which turned out to be a lot like an undercover mission. All four of them and Lando constantly looked out for him and texted each other updates on Jos' location. If he ever got too close to Max, someone would be dispatched to distract him.

And lastly, racing. Oddly enough that turned out to be the easiest part. Max had a great qualifying, as well as Charles and Lando.

On Saturday night they all met up in Charles' and Kyras hotel room to unwind before Sunday. After spending three days around the Miami track Lucy fully understood why this was necessary.

It was hell. The paddock was flooded with celebrities and influences, who provided even more cameras than there usually were. It was loud, chaotic and messy. The public seemed to love it. The people working in Formula 1... not so much.

The atmosphere in the room was a bit awkward at first, almost chilly. Charles and Lando didn't seem so convinced by Kyra forgiving Max so quickly and apparently tried to hold onto their grudge for a little longer, quietly staring at the Dutchman. But they were men and by the time the pizza they'd ordered arrived and Max offered both of them a slice, everything that had happened in the past was forgotten.

Lucy, who was sitting somewhere on the floor and cuddling with a pillow, watched the four friends laugh and joke around. Now she was really able to imagine the lively group Kyra had described to her last season. Especially the version of Max her cousin had always loved to tell her about.

He was beaming whenever they laughed at his jokes, his posture more relaxed than Lucy's ever seen it. It was clear just by looking at him how much Max had missed this. As if someone had given him back a part of himself he'd been missing for the past couple of months.

Of course his issues weren't all magically fixed, but this clearly was a step into the right direction.

They were about two hours into the hangout when the topic of conversation started getting more serious. Max's sudden evasion of everyone that cared about him and what had followed. Lucy decided it was best to give them some space.

She already knew what Max would tell them and while she was sort of friends with everyone here, she didn't feel like it would be appropriate for her to stay. She wasn't wart of the group yet.

»I'll go down to the bar. See if I can get something for us.« She said as she stood up.

Four pairs of eyes followed her to the door, giving her thankful looks. Max had to turn around as he was sitting with his back to her and smiled at her. Ignoring the little flutter her heart did, she returned it and then left.
