Students of UA Class 1-A were preparing for their morning lessons in homeroom. Some of them more than others were thinking about the upcoming final exam, the studious and always worrying Izuku Midoriya going through his hero log book to refresh himself on the techniques of those he'd aspired to. His recent data had been filled with those of his classmates as he'd not been able to keep up as much with other pro-heroes after coming to UA.
Like Deku, Yaoyurozu and Uraraka were studying for finals and most everyone was in their seat. Todoroki was in a pensive, and Kirishima and Kaminari stood around Bakugo's desk discussing his brutal study plan.
"I'm glad to see everyone's okay," Iida started on seeing everyone had made it to class safely. "I know none of you live close to the attack sites but it was possible that you could have been at the wrong place at the wrong time."
"Yeah, those explosions shook up my place real good. I was up till morning because of all the commotion," Hanta yawned from his desk. He was feeling lethargic from being up and thus abstained from the usual morning banter.
"You should ask Mr Aizawa for a day off then. I'm sure he'll understand," Asui suggested.
"Oh yeah. Just know you'll probably be last by the time you come back," Kaminari laughed. "I mean internship days were enough to give us a new Midoriya."
That comment made Bakugo growl, recalling how Deku had seemingly copied his way of moving and improved from a worthless twerp who couldn't use his powers without breaking his bones to becoming someone who actually had a chance of winning the race. Not that he could come close to beating Bakugo though. He'd need way more than that.
"They say it was the league of villains again," Sato muttered.
"Man, you'd think they'd let up after getting their asses handed to them by Endeavor," Kirishima noted, bumping his fists together.
Most of the class agreed, though everyone was doing their best to avoid the obvious elephant in the room, their connection to the hero killer. Well, almost everyone.
"Did you see the Redtail videos though? There was this one crazy chick with blue fire and lightning. She was the dream," Mineta noted, his mouth watering slightly.
"That girl creeps me out," Kaminari said. "She kinda reminds me of Bakugo to be honest." There were some agreeing grumbles.
"What did you say?!!!" Bakugo barked at him, though Kaminari just ignored him.
"Did the league of villains really recruit a bunch of kids?"
"I mean they couldn't have had them before USJ right? Else they would have brought them."
"Oh man! Thinking about having to fight evil people our age really creeps me out," Hagakure said.
"Did you see the one of the guy who fought Orca?" Mineta asked.
"Yeah, Orca wasn't looking so good after that fight. You'd think he'd fought a real villain," Kaminari noted.
"They are real villains. They attacked civilians and heroes at night. People could have died," Iida corrected.
"Yeah, yeah, fine. But you know what I mean. Like I'm pretty sure that kid's younger than us."
"I've met some pretty nasty kids in my time," Ashido chimed in. "Never underestimate kids."
"And the ones that fought All-Might? Now that was some real action," Kaminari noted.
"Leave it to All-Might to win 1 vs 15," Kirishima praised.
"He is the No 1 hero after all," Hagakure reminded.
"They were just kids. How hard could it have been?" Sato wondered.
"We're just a bunch of kids. And we fought off villains at the USJ," Jiro said.
"Word online is that they knocked out Woods, and Mountain Lady couldn't do anything because they had the one guy who could control all the sand. At one point, he even buried All-Might in it," Kaminari recalled excitedly. "He was like Todoroki, but with sand."
Todoroki looked up at them briefly on hearing his name, but decided against joining the conversation. He had heard enough about All-Might's "stalemate" with children from his father's morning rant and didn't want to hear any more of it.
"You do realize that these are people who'd probably kill us, right?" Asui said, causing Kaminari to frown.
"He won in the end so it's no big deal," Kaminari shrugged.
"Aren't you worried though? Charger boy is quickly claiming the niche of next lightning hero and he's way cooler than you..." Mina pointed out, showing the short clip of Killua tanking an entire bolt of lightning. "He kinda invalidates your entire existence, don't you think?"
"That's low," Hanta muttered.
"I wonder which school he's from. And if we'll meet him at some event," Hagakure said. "He's probably so popular in school."
"At least he's not on the villains' side. Cause that would mean you'd be useless in that fight," Mina noted.
"That's why heroes work in teams? To cover for situations like that?" Asui reminded.
"Yeah, but it would suck to be completely useless in a fight. Imagine having to feel like a burden to your teammate? Having them risk their lives whilst you just lie there unable to help?" Kaminari wondered.
It may not have been his intention, but Kaminari's words brought back Iida's feelings of inadequacy from his encounter at Hosu. He was the burden then, not because of a natural quirk mismatch, but his own blind need for vengeance. He found it a bit ironic that "Charger boy" and his friends could get recognition without reprimand when he, well mostly Midoriya and Todoroki, were forced to cede theirs to their respective agencies to avoid a bad record.
Frustrated at all their morning chatter, Momo finally spoke. "There's a reason why videos like that are taken down," Yaoyurozu reminded. "Whether it's the white-haired boy or the child villains, such people are not to be put on a pedestal, no matter how young they are. I would suggest we focus on passing our final exams and let the adults take care of this. I doubt Mr Aizawa and the other teachers will be asking us our opinions on the League of Villains for either the written or practical test."
"Wouldn't it be so cool if we actually got to fight them for the practical though?" Hanta wondered. "They could release some of the minor USJ villains to UA and let us pommel them."
"That would be highly unethical to everything UA and Hero Society stands for," Iida reminded immediately.
"Not to mention dangerous," Tsuyu added. "I doubt the school would even try such a thing."
