"Sasuke... Don't leave. Naruto... bring Sasuke back," a sleeping Sakura muttered as she tossed and turned. "Sasuke!!!" She shouted, shooting up from her bed. She looked around and she was in a brightly lit cell with white walls, a clear glass pane being her only view of the outside world. Worse still, she could barely lift her hands, which were encased in heavy concrete blocks.
"Were you dreaming about Sasuke... Billboard Brow?" She heard Ino's whiny voice mock from a nearby cell, probably the one to her left, judging from the sound.
"Is everyone okay?" Tenten's voice asked from the cell across Ino's. "Hinata, Sakura, Ino..." All three girls gave affirmative answers. Tenten swallowed, hesitating to speak. "Temari?"
"That man... he defeated Gaara in a single blow..." Temari's voice answered from the cell to across Hinata's, whose cell was to the right of Sakura's.
"Well Sandy Boy's not here so maybe we should focus on how we get out of this situation," Ino noted.
"They sealed our hands in concrete. We're not going to be able to use any ninjutsu," Sakura noted.
"And they didn't leave us with our weapons or scrolls either. This may be a tall order," Tenten added. She considered their options, her eyes lighting up with an idea. "Neji didn't need hand seals," she realized. "Hinata, can you use your Byakugan?"
"What's the point of seeing a way out if we can't use it?" Sakura shot down almost immediately.
"Maybe... if we can see the way out, we can start to think about how to get out," Ino retorted.
"And it would be at least helpful to know where the boys are," Tenten added.
There was no reply from Hinata. At least that's what they thought. Tenten and Ino could kind of hear her talking if they strained their ears really hard.
"What?" Ino shouted.
"She said she can't build up the chakra around her eyes without hand seals," Sakura relayed in a loud voice.
"Of course. Neji is a genius after all," Tenten muttered.
"Don't worry Hinata. I'm sure Shikamaru and the others will come up with a plan to save us in no time," Ino assured.
They heard a dry chuckle. "Little damsels in distress waiting on their men to come and save them," a silky smooth derisive voice mocked them.
The girls looked around for the source of the sound. It was from the cell directly across from Sakura's. Within it was a girl with long flowing dark hair, bound in an Iron Maiden, only her head visible. Her situation looked more precocious than that of the kunoichi. Sakura, Hinata, and Ino looked at her questioningly.
"I am Crown Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. You, as my subjects, may address me as Princess Azula. And in the event, you ever earn my respect, simply as Azula," she introduced.
"Oh right. Just what we needed. A delusional Jill in the Box," Ino rolled her eyes.
"No offense princess, but you're in a much worse situation than we are," Sakura noted.
"Am I?" she asked with a confidence that made Sakura second-guess herself. "Restrains like this mean nothing to me. I have been held captive in much worse."
"I don't doubt that," Ino mocked under her breath. "So Princess Jill, what's your great escape plan?"
"I'll tell you... if you submit to my leadership and accept me as your new leader," she declared. "Girl to my right, you shall henceforth be Ty Lee 2," she stated, referring to Tenten. "To my right, you shall be Mai 2,. Quiet girl, you'll be Mai three. And you, the loud one, you'll be Ty Lee 3," she ordered, referring to Temari, Hinata and Ino respectively. "As for you, the girl with the forehead, I don't know what to make of you yet. I shall decide your name at a further date."
Ino facepalmed. "She really is crazy," she whispered.
"So... do you accept my terms?" Azula asked them. "I won't be repeating myself."
Sakura did not know what to make of her offer. Clearly she was not completely sane, but what if she really knew a way out? This could be their chance to help the boys for once. And it's not like it would be binding or anything? She looked at the dangling head again, the cunning smile making her second guess her stance. That smile began to fade into confusion as they heard footsteps approach them.
From the side of her cell, Sakura saw a towering man in blue gear appear, his body accentuated with billowing flames. She averted her gaze when she met his turquoise eyes, looking down to the nervous prison guard who accompanied him. They stopped in front of her cell.
"It's this one, Sir Endeavor, sir," the prison guard mumbled, pointing to the crazy princess's cell across from Sakura's. "This is the girl whose quirk allows her to control both fire and lightning."
"Leave us!" He ordered. The prison guard scurried out of sight.
The man called Endeavor turned to face Azula, his large frame almost obscuring her from Sakura's view. From the little she could see, she was looking up at him with gleaming eyes.
"I knew it. The Phoenix King is immortal. You have risen from the ashes again father. You've come to save me..." Sakura could hear the girl mumble. Did she say father?
"Where are the villains you are working with?" Endeavor's gruff voice asked.
"They left me father. They all left me. They were all traitors. Mai, Lee, even Lo and Li. They let Zuko take over after you left. They told me you were locked up.... But they wouldn't tell me where. They told me the avatar took away your bending... But here you stand... Phoenix King." Sakura saw her attempt to bow her head, despite being trapped in the Iron Maiden. Was this man really her father? Why would he have her locked up?
Whatever she was saying didn't appear to pacify him as she saw his ripped back muscles lock into place, his legs threatening to crush the floor beneath them.
"The five who are after you? What is it they're seeking?"
There was a few seconds of silence before her voice came through again. "It's the Avatar and his gang," she spat, her disdain sending shivers through Sakura. "That stupid water tribe girl and her blind bat earthbender are trying to thwart our mission again. But I won't let them. Release me father, and we shall finish what we started under the Comet. It won't matter if they got the cat-eyed boy or that doe-eyed one... We will be able to take them all," she said. "I've prepared for this day. For our glorious return to the throne."
Endeavor turned to someone out of Sakura's view, probably the guard, who he called back. The prison guard was still a bit nervous to be in the man's presence. "Is this the only one with a lightning related quirk?" His voice was sharp and monotonous.
The prison guard visibly shook under Endeavor's intense glare, feeling like every second he wasted only served to irritate the towering man. "There was no other one with a lightning quirk. But there was that Charger Boy kid who got away. He was deemed harmless and an up-and-comer though."
Sakura heard the man growl. From what she could understand, he was after someone with a lightning "quirk"? Images flashed through her mind... the sound of the thousand bird wings that had rang through her eyes during and after the Chunin exams... the Chidori. Was he after... "Sasuke!" She muttered.
He immediately turned to her, causing her to shut her mouth tightly, biting her lips to avoid saying anything else. He turned back to the prison guard. "Anyone unaccounted for?"
"Well... Sir Orca... Gang Orca... he fought one of them. He's holding him at his base till we go pick him up..." the prison guard stammered. "He's not who....who you're looking for though. He used flames... like you... I mean not that he's you... but...."
Endeavor's jaw stiffened, the flames around him growing much much stronger. "That damned Doctor. Fire crackles, just as lightning. He lied to me again," he realized. Filled with rage at another deception, he blazed off, leaving the prison guard frightened, sweating and confused.
