“Hon, I think we need to say our goodbyes to Benj.” Dad told mom.

“Why?”

“Lately, our company is facing a financial crisis and Mr. Lim told me that they gonna trim down a number of employees to cope up with the crisis...”

“And so?”

“And I’m one of those unlucky ones who didn’t make it… For the next two days, I will be no one but a useless husband who just waits for his wife for money…”

“Hon, stop saying that! There still tons of company out there where you can apply.”

“But a middle aged man like me won’t be their priority anymore…”

“Okay, If that’s what you think then let it be just for this moment…”

In no time, we arrive in our classroom. The professor is not yet around but our classmates who are all Koreans are already here and sitting quite far apart from each other, a sign that no one knows or is a friend of another. Typically, this is usually the scenario for enrolling and pursuing graduate studies according to some people that I know. You are only by yourself. That’s right, I’m only by myself and I won’t be needing anyone’s help even Seung Joon’s help.

Seung Joon grabs again my hand and pulled me to the last row of seats right next to the window.

“This is the best spot.” Seung Joon told me.

He really loves sitting at the back right next to a window, a thing that I always notice during our classes in way back in Manila. Maybe, the surroundings that he sees outside the window makes him feel at ease everytime the atmosphere in the classroom becomes somewhat “heavy” due to the hardcore engineering lessons.

“Hi! Glad to see a foreign classmate here.” A female Korean classmate of mine greeted.

She’s really cute among all the Korean girls that I’ve seen so far, she’s the cutest. Plus, she knows the English language really well. Thank, God. I won’t be stock in pretending and uttering those K-Dramas lines that I memorized.

“Hello. I’m Chin nice to meet you ---“

“Mi Rae… Song Mi Rae.”

“H--- Hi there!” Mi Rae greeted Seung Joon.

“Park Seung Joon.” Seung Joon coldly replied.

“It seems that both of you know each other.”

“Yes, we came from the same university in the Philippines.” I gladly replied.

“You’re a Filipino?”

“Yes.”

“wow, this is my first time to meet one.”

“two actually and technically.” Seung Joon interrupted.

“Ye--- yes, he’s right. He’s a Filipino citizen but a Korean at blood.” I informed her.

Not too long, our professor arrives. Actually, I’m not really expecting that our professor would also be a foreigner but ‘expect the unexpected’.

“Good morning class. I’m Mr. Brown your Env145 professor. From the course code itself, in this class, we will be talking and discussing everything, because, everything lies in our environment…” Mr. Brown started.

Mirae who is not sitting next to me starts to write something on a piece of paper. She folds it and places it on my table. I get it and unfold it. Of course, I immediately read it. It says: ‘Are you guys free tonight? My treat. S-E-O-U-L <3’ I give her a nod and write 6pm on the same sheet of paper.

“Hello?” TOP answered his phone.

“Hey, bro!” a familiar voice replied.

“Ji young! I’ve been trying to reach you. Where are you?”

“Sorry, man. I went overseas to relax for a bit.”

“Good for you but this man over here is enjoying seeing me suffering.” TOP joked as he glances at his manager.

“Tonight, same time, same place.”

“Sure.” TOP ended and hung his phone.

“I’ll be meeting Mr. Kim later to confirm some things.” TOP’s manager said.

“I’ll just give you a ride, since, I’ll also meet Ji Young and the rest later.”

“alright, just be sure not to be clumsy. The eyes of everyone are on you.”
