“I should not have left you.” Seung Joon whispered to himself.

Although, I can’t understand what he just said. I can feel that he’s worried about me.

“Thank you…” I replied as I was still barely conscious.

The cool breeze that passes against my face indicates that the winter season starts to arrive. Other than my thick clothes, Seung Joon’s cosy back gives me warmth. If I’m not mistaken, for the past 15 minutes, he’s been giving me a ‘free’ piggy back ride, a very typical gesture for an ‘overnight gentleman’ like him. I am hoping that tomorrow, he won’t give me again his crunchiest tease as a payback for his kindness.

“Bro, what took you so long? And what happened to your clothes?” Seung Ri asked TOP.

“Our rapper meets this ‘extraordinary’ guy” GD teased TOP.

“Uh -- hooh! Man, you look totally pissed.” Tae Yang interrupted.

“Will you guys stop it? Can’t you see this night is already ruined?” TOP annoyingly replied.

“Easy, Bro. Here take this. It will make you calm.” Dae Sung handed TOP a shot.

“I’m not really in a good mood. I think I should go before everything gets worse.” TOP replied.

“Gets worse? But how?” GD asked TOP.

“Ah—I don’t know…” TOP said.

“Bro, you’re just pissed, okay. Just forget about it… and let’s just continue to party!” Dae Sung replied and drank the shot that he was holding.

“He’s right, bro. Plus, no one was around when that incident happened.” GD added.

“Fine, guys. You win as always.” TOP ended and sat next to Seung Ri.

In no time, Seung Joon and I reach my dorm which is just a ride away to the last bar we’ve been to.

“Hey, we’re here.” I heard Seung Joon’s voice.

“Keys? Give me your keys.” He asked.

“Bag. They’re in my bag.” I dizzily answered as I was still riding his back.

“Aisshhh… Of all the things that you would leave...”

“So—sorry. My bad.” I giggly replied.

“Wait here. I’ll just get the spare key from the land lady.”

In the empty and dim hallway of my dormitory, he securely leaves me. With a heavy head, I watch him walk away until he vanishes from my sight.

“Dad, may I ask you something?” Innah politely asked.

“Yes, sure. What is it?”

“I don’t mean to offend you but it’s been days that I haven’t seen you go to work.”

“Well, Uhmm… Innah, your dad is just taking a break. Right, Hon?” Mom interrupted.

“Yes, baby girl. Your mom is right.”

“Hmmm… something is not right and ‘fishy’.”

“Just finish your food and feed Bosch once you’re done.” Mom told Innah.

“If my sister is just here, I guess that she’ll probably understand what you really mean… with the tones of your voices…”

The morning sun already rose and greets me with its bright rays. Without remembering anything that had happened last night other than hopping every bar and club all night, I wake up inside my dorm on my soft and very comfortable bed. My Physical Chemistry and Biotech professors in the Philippines are right, alcohol truly destroy brain cells. I just hope that my IQ is still stable and my brain is still functioning well…

I check my wrist watch and its a quarter past 8am. I thank myself for not waking up late. I still have time to prepare for my 10:30am class. I sit down and stretch widely my arms. After doing my morning stretch, I stand up and walk towards the bathroom. On my study table located right next to my closet near the bathroom, I see a piping hot bowl of soup with a blue sticky note attached on it. I check it and read the note. It says ‘Have this before you go. It will make you feel better. – Seung Joon’. After reading it, it makes me wonder how did Seung Joon transformed himself into a nice guy? Is he having a seasonal mood swings or something?. I grab the spoon resting on top of the bowl and give the soup a few sips until, my phone rings…

“Sis, It’s me. Innah” Innah greeted.

“Hey, sis. Why did you call? You’re in the middle of your class, right?” I asked.

“No, we’re having our recess break. 9am? Duh.”

“Yah… Yah… you’re right.”

“Sis, I only got few coins left here. I’m sorry for making our first overseas talk brief…”

“You know, sis. You’re very dramatic, ever!” I giggled.

“Yes, sis. I know because you’re my sister.”

“Yah, right. So, what made you call?”

“Sis, I think dad lost his job. I researched last night and found out that the company where he was working is having this financial crisis and has started to cut off some labourers. Plus, in an online shop, I saw Benj on sale…”

“Oh, no. That can’t be. Mom, emailed me yesterday and told me that I should never worry because, everything is alright and will send me some cash within this week. Sis, I’m really sorry for being a burden.”

“You don’t need to be sorry, sis. You deserve to be there. Your dreams and hardships bring you there.”

“Don’t worry, sis. I’ll do something about it and please, tell mom to save the cash that she’ll be sending, because, SNU is covering all my expenses here.”

“Really, sis?!”

“Yes, sis. So, don’t worry.”

“Thanks, sis. I thank God for having a brainy sister like you.”

“Okay, I’ll hung now.”

“Alright. Bye and take care!”

“Same to you, sis. Bye.”

I hung up.

“Chin, they will be fine, okay. You just need to ‘work’ harder from now on.” I told myself as I finish my soup and grab the newspaper in romanized saying, ‘The Seoul Times Classified ads’
